There has been all kinds of controversy with this computer scoring.
Very, very true. It's a great tool for those who are dissatisfied with any kind of scoring. Manual or computer, their boxers will always get robbed.
Like judges pressing the wrong button
And what does that have to do with anything? Judges used to mix their corners in paper scoring, too. Really doesn't have much impact on the overall score.
and for instance if a boxer throws a 5 punch combination only 2 of them might register because the button can't be pressed in sequence.
It can't? Since when? I don't have any problems pressing the button in sequence.
And what about this outclassed rule. What is it 20 points? If a fight is getting too one sided it's the referees job to step in and stop the action.
I'm not overly fond of the RSC-O rule - hoever, what AIBA wants, AIBA gets. There are many times when one boxer is not getting hurt but just isn't able to out punch his opponent. A referee wouldn't necessarily stop a bout in that situation. But, along with headgear and computer scoring, it's here to stay.

I think that 20 points rule is nice:
1. Even with headguards, one not so prepared fighter may be injured by some other stronger then him. So when he gets a lot of punches for one or two rounds, will be better the fight to be stopped.
2. It's borring to watch one sided action for entire 8 monutes plus another 3 for the rest. So it's better that this fight is stopped (when for example you have 15-20 bouts per session).
3. With the rule you must get clear punch (different sort of view for different judges), not to use dirty tactics. So it's better then you throw a lot of punches to score, then to clinch. There is an opposition of this rule, cleary showed by Rigo and most of the Cubans with their great defence.

The problem came that the judges around the world didn't score by the same way. For example in USA and Cuba the scores are lower then in Europe. This cause one of the problems for USA fighters, while Cubans now this fact and try to use hit and run tactics.

Hi Ogii! Good explanation of the 20 point OS rule.

Interesting! So that's why the Cubans run, huh? Makes sense to me. [/quote]
