Thought it seemed abit weird seen as he only fights every 6 months normally

Frank Maloney says they are still hoping to fight Tyson Fury. But if Fury doesn't accept the fight by Thursday, they will be looking at other options such as going to the US and fighting Blocus on March 24.

Price gives Fury a Thursday deadline

British heavyweight titleholder Tyson Fury has until Thursday to accept an offer to face mandatory challenger and English champion David Price.

Price’s manager, Frank Maloney, has confirmed that a formal ‘take it or leave it’ approach is now on the table of their Manchester rival -- who is also the Commonwealth titleholder -- with a 48-hour deadline attached.

Should Fury (17-0, 12 knockouts) dodge what would be a cracking domestic tear-up, between two of the division’s most promising still-undefeated contenders, then Maloney will look to take Liverpool star Price (12-0, 10 KOs) to the United States instead. A possible bout against French-born heavyweight veteran Josue Blocus in Atlantic City has been pencilled in for late March.

But UK promoter Maloney, who helped steer Lennox Lewis to the top of the heavyweight world, clearly favours the first option for 28-year-old Price.

"We have made a formal offer to Fury and they have until Thursday to agree terms," Maloney said. "We want that fight as quick as possible -- he's got to defend it by the end of May but we're looking at April. I want to keep him fighting, keep him working."

Maloney is supremely confident that Price, who took just 73 seconds to stop John McDermott in their recent British eliminator, is already a class above Fury -- and warns they are in no mood to hang around.

“I don’t want to hold up David’s career, and if Tyson Fury doesn’t want to fight him, he should just say so and stop wasting everyone’s time,” Maloney told the Daily Star Sunday. “Fury is fighting bums.”

Pmsl how can fury be fighting bums ? Hasn't he fought McDermott twice? The first time in like his 6th fight or something ? And hasn't price just won his toughest test on paper beating McDermott?? these promoters get funnier and funnier .

First time I've tipped against Fury but I'd really fancy Price in this one, but the tone of this offer makes it sound like Price is the champ. The board say it needs to be by the end of May, so FM can't decide on a 2 day deadline for a date of your choice, and insinuate Fury is ducking Price if he doesn't take your take it or leave it offer. Like it or not, Fury is the champ. After all the delays in Prices career, another month won't make a jot of difference so why not hang about a few weeks for the Lonsdale belt rather than sending Price stateside to fight someone who has fought once since May 2007?

FM shouldn’t be talking about Fury fighting bums either in my opinion, I understand the talk about Price doing his work in the classroom, but actually in the ring - I think Fury has had better opponents to date. I'm not saying Price wouldn't have beaten the same men, but he hasn't been given the chances that Fury has by his promoter/s. FM will have his reasons, but calling Fury's opponent's bums is actually embarrassing.

My point is Maloney is talking absolute rubbish. The way he is talking it doesn't seem like he wants the Fury fight for Price.
