Fletcher To Challenge Mwetupunga For Australian Title

Post by ausboxing »

Jarrod ‘Left Jab’ Fletcher has announced that he will be fighting Johannes Mwetupunga (11-2-0) with the Australian Middleweight title on the line, 24th Feb 2012 in Melbourne.

The fight will be Mwetupunga’s 5th defense of the title which he claimed in 2010 against Jason Hartmann. His last fight was against now Australian super middleweight champion Omar Shaick in April of 2010 where he won with a 8th round TKO. He was scheduled to face Garth Wood late in 2011 but a cut suffered by Wood in training put an end to the fight happening

‘Left Jab’ Fletcher (10-0-0) who will face his toughest opponent yet had a great 2012. He recorded 2 stoppage wins and 3 shutout points wins. His last fight was against William Hadlow in a return to home bout which happened in Hervey Bay, QLD.

On the upcoming matchup Fletcher said, “Finally after chasing it all year, I’m locked in to fight Johannes Mwetupunga. I cant wait to start 2012 with a BANG!”

Great fight, I think fletcher will be to good for Mwetupunga. He should be able to out box him and get a late stoppage in my opinion.

I was hoping Robbie Bryant would challenge Mwetupunga - I think that would be a very good fight and I'd favour Bryant to win. With his pedigree, Fletcher should be better than Bryant and I pick him to win by a wide decision or late stoppage.

I think once Fletcher finds his rythm etc.. He will put him away, Mwetupunga wont be able to handle Fletcher, Fletcher by TKO 7.

Who would allow this to go ahead? "Hardcore" is a game fighter but it is about time he retired. He is on his way to being badly hurt.

Really good match up. I give 50/50 in this fight. Should rewatch Fletcher's and Mwetupunga's last fights.
