prime for prime
lightning speed vs iron willed determination
would hagler cut off the ring or would nunn give marvelous fits?
would be a classic match up imho

Re: michael nunn vs marvin hagler
Nunn doesnt have what it takes to beat the best Hagler (and either did Leonard), so I thought this might be pitting them against one another in 87...as it is, I think Hagler knocks him out late in a competitive bout, yet one where Nunn is flighty and never too comfortable. KO in twelve.

Re: michael nunn vs marvin hagler
Nunn had a very short prime and in it he would beat Hagler 3 or 4 times outta 10 on a close decision.
The other times he gets tagged and KOd and probably late in the fight.
So I give Hagler a 66% chance of winning. This is assuming it's a 12 rounder.

Re: michael nunn vs marvin hagler
prime hagler would never lose to Nunn....if leonard hadnt come back, with curry out of the picture due to the honeyghan loss..and in an alternative world with Hearns losing a fight with Mccallum in early 87.. the suddenly being divorced Hagler may have needed to fight on and may have regained his hunger...
In that alternative world I'd love to have seen Hagler become active in 1987 and have 3 or 4 fights that year against the kalambays and Grahams the Barkleys or Tates .....and than an early 88 fight between Hagler and Nunn...that would be very interesting.....I think the old man would still overcome Nunn.

Re: michael nunn vs marvin hagler
Hagler would fight Nunn like he did other taller guys like Obel, The Worm (rematch), Hearns, Watts (rematch), etc. He wouldn't be looking to bide his time, box, and look for his openings. He'd be all over him like a cheap suit. In that scenario I don't see Nunn lasting past about the 8th. Hagler would struggle up until then, though.
Re: michael nunn vs marvin hagler
Nunn had nothing to keep Hagler off him. He would've been defensively awkward for a few rounds, but when the pressure piled on, Nunn would have committed errors and got knocked out. Especially that leaning back shit! Hagler woulda decapitated him into the fifth row!
