Welliver vs Barrett on NZ Radio
Yes folks, the rivalry is heating up. Name calling, WWE trash talking, money claims, old man claims, ducking claims. Good stuff. Monte winds up telling Chauncy that he is an old man and Welliver should be calling out Klitschko's. What kind of APAC champ is this guy? He is ducking his interim champion and trying to pass the buck to K2. Monte needs to man up.

It said in the New Zealand Herald today that Wellivers team have offered NZ$500,000 to Tua for that fight. It also said that Welliver knocked Mensah out as well though.

Damn, are you serious? I saw other reports that some obscure newspaper was reporting that Tua vs Monte 3 was on for July.
500 grand is a lot of dough. 1st I've heard of this but I hope it is happening.

I found it and spread it around. That is a nice hunk to go with hefty rankings. I will be very interested in Tuaman's response. That's a big guarantee.

Hey guys. We've never offered Tua anything. We would, but not that amount. We'd be crazy to. Him & Cameron made 500k apiece fighting eachother but Daves name value has dropped since then & I don't have the marketability in NZ of NZ born/bred Shane Cameron.
I'd love the fight, but no, that number was not offered. We'd offer him a very fair amount but nobodies really sure if Dave plans to continue fighting or not.

I know you would love the fight Chauncey but we both know boxing, and we know you wont win against David. Youve never fought anyone as powerful as David. Sparring is sparring and you know the fight is far more intense. You have dismal performances, you should have put away Mensah but it was messy and you know it. You know that wasnt first class boxing. You should give lowly Mensah another shot.Chauncy wrote:I'd love the fight, but no, that number was not offered. I'd be open to a rematch. I'm the 1st to admit, I looked like junk that night. Felt worse than I looked. I just chalk it up to a bad day at the office and onto the next fight.foxdog1923 wrote:I know you would love the fight Chauncey but we both know boxing, and we know you wont win against David. If he is realistic on purse, we'll do it again. In America, he would not have been paid for walking out as he did & would be suspended as that was very unprofessional. All good though. He fought a very good fight. I was winning on the cards. He faded late & held non stop after the 6th round. Wouldnt let go on refs break after being told 5-6 times to break.
But back to the subject being discussed in this thread, notice, though I want the fight with Dave, this' about me & Monte Barrett.

James Slater has this front page at ESB now. Sent some messages to get it off but it appears that no mods are around.
How can a story like that get printed with no legs? That's crazy.

Newspapers in this part of the World are not highly regarded and sports writers are at the bottom of the pile.
