ashley theophane dont be scared homie
ashley theophane has had two picks for both his title defences against jason cook and ben murphy,he was scheduled to fight nigel wright but wright had problems with his brain scan and had to pull out the fight with a week to go before the fight. Now theophane is looking for someone else to pick to fight for the ownership of the lonsdale belt instead of fighting a mandatory fight with the number one contender steve williams. i can see what ash is gonna do from a mile away and to be honest it absolutley stinks,he will fight alex arthur a blown up super feather weight then he will run back to america with the lonsdale belt and say "well i fought the best britain had to offer" when in reality he has hand picked his three defences, how can the british boxing board of control let a fighter do this? to me the lonsdale belt is a prestigious belt and one of the best belt you can win because you have to fight the best in britain 3 times before its yours, ashley theophane is a fraud and is making a mockery of the world famous lonsdale belt so all im saying is "ASHLEY THEOPHANE DONT BE SCARED HOMIE MAN THE FOOK UP AND FIGHT WILLIAMS" he is the rightful number1 contender, but if your scared homie just say but your not getting to keep the lonsdale cause the board should strip you.
Re: ashley theophane dont be scared homie
I'm not knocking Ashley’s achievements, hats off to him he’s improved immeasurably from the early days, but people were getting carried away. People saw a few wins in the states and bought into it, it was never as simple as that.
As I said before on here:
Ashley mentioned in numerous publications after his Jan 2007 fight with Alan Bosworth that he'd been frozen out of a title shot and that he didn't care about the Lonsdale belt, he was going straight for the world title. What actually happened was that it was an eliminator (not a final eliminator) and when the final eliminator was ordered, it was against a tougher opponent (think it might have been Matthew Hatton). Eames was desperate for Ash to step up, said he was trying to get him to step up for ages.
Then Ashley does superbly to win the title off Daws some years later, straight after the fight he insisted he's giving it up, won't defend it because he's off to chase the world title. Then Cook comes in as an opponent and the defence is on.
Theophane has mixed in fringe world class, but facts are what you make of them.
Chop Chop was a good away win for Ashley, but you could present it that it was Corley's 5th loss on the trot. He's actually racked up 14 losses since (but including) the Witter fight, which should indicate whether or not he's the same man he was.
Against Garcia, did very well in a loss that was a good learning fight for Garcia.
Against Rodriguez he was lucky but did prove solid. Rodriguez has now won 2 of his last 7, again an indication.
Yep, Lenny was the favourite and I thought he'd edge it, but Daws looked flat. Best result of Ashley's career for me.
Cook, still had a dig but no where near his prime. He pushed Ash closer than he should have been able to though.
Murphy, too light and late notice as a replacement but clearly showed Ashleys limitations.
And as for the hard journey state side. Ash went over once or twice, met Salita in one of the gyms, the well funded Salita then paid Ashleys expenses for most of the trips that followed. Around that time, Ash repeatedly referred to himself as a world champion - he had won the GBC belt against a fighter with a 2-4-1 record.
As I say, I'm not knocking what's been achieved. Fair play to him, he's done really well for himself. I just read and hear some of the tosh he comes out with and it does my head in.
Will totally earn my full respect if he takes on Williams or Woodhouse, but I can see his calls for Alex Arthur just getting louder.

Re: ashley theophane dont be scared homie
That's how it is.
Definitely Arthur is the opponent he wants.
Williams to be fair should be ahead of Curtis in the queue, but when it became clear Williams wasn't going to get a sniff Curtis made his offer.
Not one of those publicity stunts - a genuine offer.
He had plenty to say on all these fancy comminication things twitter etc - but I don't unsderstand them.
Anyway he's blocked Curtis as I understand it.

Ryan,
That may be the case mate, I don't know.
However if that was the case why is he avoiding him ?
Surely if you know you've got a fighter's number, it's game on ?

Sparring is one thing, fighting another. I'm not even 100% Williams has the skills to do it, I just don't like the fact he (and anyone else with a fair chance) is blatantly being ducked. Trouble is, I actually get people telling me Ash has been ducked at world level. They've only heard this from Ash himself, but it appears good enough for them.ryan917 wrote:Theophane beat the living shitt out of Williams in sparring.

Re: ashley theophane dont be scared homie
no worries,i was there in 2006 when ste wasnt even a pro when ash had just come back from germany and steve sparred about 8 rounds with him and steve held his own in that sparr, even tho he wasnt even a pro, then last year they sparred in liverpool 8 rounds oner day 8 rounds the next and i can tell you ash hit ste with some big punches and steve kept marching forward, ash couldnt hurt ste and he couldnt keep ste off him so ryan you know your chatting shitte otherwise you would of come back with the reason why you said it. for the record there is not one light welter that will stand and trade with steve williams and come out on top,i came on here when he had his first fight and sang his praises and i got abit of stick but im glad i can say "told you all so". ash is running scared like he did against ben murphy for the first 7-8 rounds like he did against chop chop like he did against delvin rodriguez were he was lucky to come away with the decision,in my eyes delvin won, he doesnt want no part of ste williams or curtis woodhouse cause these two are pressure fighters and look what little ben murphy done to ashtwenty six wrote:You see this is what pisses me off.

Re: ashley theophane dont be scared homie
i can tell you what he will do if he doesnt fight alex arthur he will fight the winner of the prize fighter cause he doesnt want the pressure of ste williams or curtis woodhouse, the quicker he saddles up and rides out of town the better he is a fraud.

Theopane did not "beat the shit" out of Williams in sparring. I attended both days at Dave Tonks Kempston Street Gym in Liverpool City Centre and even gave Theopane water in between rounds.
Theopane had the better of the first day but Williams levelled it up the following afternoon. Great spparring and it was a joy to watch

Re: ashley theophane dont be scared homie
I dont think Theophane is scared of Williams or Woodhouse i thinks he's a level above both fighters, i think Thophanes looking at it from a buisness point of view he struggled with Ben Murphy and both Williams and Woodhouse are pressure fighters and seeing how this will be his last fight at domestic level he's looking for a opponent where he can impress against
Re: ashley theophane dont be scared homie
he shouldnt be looking for anyone he should fight the number one contender he has already had two picks for himself, fight the mandatory steve williams and i guarantee ash is not a level above williams,he is looking for an easy fight then he can run back the states saying "ive fought the best in britain" which anyone who has a clue about boxing knows that this is not true.diggler wrote:I dont think Theophane is scared of Williams or Woodhouse i thinks he's a level above both fighters, i think Thophanes looking at it from a buisness point of view he struggled with Ben Murphy and both Williams and Woodhouse are pressure fighters and seeing how this will be his last fight at domestic level he's looking for a opponent where he can impress against
Re: ashley theophane dont be scared homie
i was there too chris,it was a good sparr but if you had to choose who won each day it is like you say,ash got the first day steve got the 2nd but steve had run 12 miles the night before the first day of sparring and his legs were abit stiff. take no notice of that ryan he hasnt got a clue what he is talking about.Chris W 1982 wrote:Theopane did not "beat the shit" out of Williams in sparring. Re: ashley theophane dont be scared homie
as i said earlier i will bet my full months wages on a williams win if this fight happens im that confident, ash chats absolute verbal diarreah on twitter, facebook and whatever else he has to communicate with whoever will listen to him,ash has been ducked world level,if he has then what warrants him getting a title shot,a win against chop chop? rodriguez? i doubt it,all im saying is man the fook up ashley and fight the next in line, you were ok with me when i was giving you props for winning the title so take the flack when it comes at you too. truth is if he didnt have that title noone would want to fight him and he would still be in the states fighting past their prime fighters and bragging about it too.JamesH wrote:Sparring is one thing, fighting another. Re: ashley theophane dont be scared homie
Theopane doesn't have the biggest of followings over here and Williams isn't the most popular of names either so he might be thinking that he could make a bit more cash against Arthur who can bring in the crowds up north and set himself up in America for a title shot.fasteddie wrote:he shouldnt be looking for anyone he should fight the number one contender he has already had two picks for himself, fight the mandatory steve williams and i guarantee ash is not a level above williams,he is looking for an easy fight then he can run back the states saying "ive fought the best in britain" which anyone who has a clue about boxing knows that this is not true.diggler wrote:I dont think Theophane is scared of Williams or Woodhouse i thinks he's a level above both fighters, i think Thophanes looking at it from a buisness point of view he struggled with Ben Murphy and both Williams and Woodhouse are pressure fighters and seeing how this will be his last fight at domestic level he's looking for a opponent where he can impress against

i can confirm that ive been informed that i wont be fighting the tin man for the british title, i was told he was asking for more money than what floyd would get to take on manny pac, theres more than 1 way to say no to a fight and he choose this way, after me stating id take the fight for free he was under pressure to accept and im informed EVERYBODY wanted it apart from him, i wish ste williams all the best in getting this yellow belly in the ring

Re: ashley theophane dont be scared homie
I didn't pick Jason Cook, Mick Hennessey and Channel 5 did. Jason was due to do an eliminator with Wright. I also did not pick Ben Murphy. So I am yet to pick an opponent. Woodhouse and Williams were asked to step in but turned the fight down for various reasons. I was willing to fight anyone at a weeks notice. If I am good enough to hold my own with Gracia, Rodriguez, Daws and Corley why would I be scared of Williams and Woodhouse.fasteddie wrote:he shouldnt be looking for anyone he should fight the number one contender he has already had two picks for himself, fight the mandatory steve williams and i guarantee ash is not a level above williams,he is looking for an easy fight then he can run back the states saying "ive fought the best in britain" which anyone who has a clue about boxing knows that this is not true.diggler wrote:I dont think Theophane is scared of Williams or Woodhouse i thinks he's a level above both fighters, i think Thophanes looking at it from a buisness point of view he struggled with Ben Murphy and both Williams and Woodhouse are pressure fighters and seeing how this will be his last fight at domestic level he's looking for a opponent where he can impress against
Steve Williams is not the mandatory yet as the BBBoC would put it to purse bids.
Williams biggest win is against Karl Place, who is he? Woodhouse has no big wins as yet.
