2-possible date for date for rube ferns v harry pigeon 1896

"harry pigeon of canada, who was formally identified with tommy ryan as the latter's trainer, is out west making hay while the sun shines. pigeon informs the sun that he is to fight jim fern of kansas on aug. 10. this will be pigeon's most important battle since he was whipped by jack mcauliffe".
