Jane, when the fvck is your birthday? :P

The reason why I ask is you say in that video the 12th of August is your birthday, Boxrec says it's the 13th and Wikipedia says it's the 14th?

I think some of his more 'passionate' ringside followers are likelier to turn people off him. And being an drunken aggressive dick is certainly not exclusive to any community.

That's a great read, Hughie really opened up on Tyson's world. I feel sorry for Tyson, he could be so much better but he has so many problems outside of the ring. I don't know if there is a trainer in Britain who could help him, I think he needs to help himself first.

Although Tyson Fury is a very capable boxer he also comes across as an introspective and thoughtful man, prone to depression. He may well have ducked Price and I don't think he'll ever beat either of the brothers. He is brash but is likabe and I hope he gets things sorted. (I wouldn't like to be at the next wedding or funeral though).

I thought Hughie Fury was excellent in Tyson's corner against Chisora.

This had me laughing out loud literally:

“I’d rather train a bantamweight who trains like an African slave and does his job right instead of some big, fat pudendum who’s 6’9".

Hahaha. Classic line.

Think that he's got a big ego, to be honest, same as Furys' dad. I'm not sure that they're not a bit jealous of the limelight. Both Hugh and John were tough and game but were found wanting in the ring. Neither got much media attention when active and probably get more now as relations of Tyson than when they were active. Some of what he says is honest and easy for the armchair fan to agree with; some of the rest is spite.

Can I remind you that no one has beat Tyson Fury yet.

He may be frustrating to train/coach but I think he has talent and can go very far in this business.

Interesting interview if a little harsh. I think he can do with a nutritionist 100%, i accept he may have some fat cells from being a bit porky as a kid, but he is still young enough to commit himself to a diet to look and feel better. It would definately improve his confidence it sounds! I still hold hope for him knuckling down with a good trainer. Despite what people say and his obvious goal to make the papers, i think he is a decent guy with talent and some good assets. As a minimum his fights always entertain me. I am though dissapointed in the vacating of the belts, but feel it wasn't entirely his decision. Him and Price will make a good spectacle in 2013, and hopefully more will be on the line then.

He looked absolutely fine against Chisora. Who gives a shit if he has an extra 3 pounds of fat round his wasit? It makes no difference to his boxing whatsoever.

He looked OK but did you think he was in the sort of physical shape required to become heavyweight champion? That's his stated goal.

Always thought Hughie Fury worked best for Tyson personally. Who knows, they've parted before, so could sort out an understanding to work together again.

The guy says it how it is, refreshing.

Going on about the public's view of travellers though, I don't think his nephew can repair the damage that his own family have done for travellers reputation the last 20years.

Ben Carey wrote:Thanks all. Hughie certainly had a lot to say. It may come across as a rant in parts, however the guy seemed more frustrated at the direction in which he perceives Tyson's career is heading in rather than being bitter. His tone and language suggest otherwise but I got the impression that he does care but his tolerance has been stretched to the limit. He's a straight talker and certainly doesn't shy away when asked direct questions.

I began the day by trying to obtain further comment from Hennessy Sports, Frank Maloney and Tyson Fury, without success. I'm glad Hughie picked up the phone.

The gist of that seems to be that Tyson wanted a conditioner for his appearance more than function. Though in fairness, the intimidation factor might help him. Balls to beauty, so long as the roadwork's put in. I think that's what Hughie meant.

Hi Frank,

I tried you on Thursday lunchtime but your phone was switched off. I don't know if you were in the gym? I also dropped Mark Harnell an email upon receiving your 'Chicken Fury' press release and left a message with James to see if he could ring me back. It wasn't urgent, and in truth I was keen to hear Hennessy's take on Tyson's next steps, justification for turning away from the Price fight etc.

I'm just bumping this 3 yrs on. An interesting perspective. Rest in peace Hughie and I hope Tyson does you and his family proud tomorrow.

I'm routing for Team Fury but can't see it lasting beyond 3 rounds.
