ch 456 bag Mayweather vs Cotto

Post by whiskey »

Just read it on twitter folks on allegedly account.

Nicely timed, a week before people's 6 month contract expires.

Masterstroke ?

Good for the channel but I reckon most of the budget gone on this fight. It a massive gamble cant see too many casual subcribing for 6 months. They should make it ppv for this fight they get bigger audience that way.

Well I'm not arsed about agendas or politic,

However its the technical angle that frustrates me. The fact it will be transmitted in standard definition is a big bonafide negative for me. The quality of the image is seemingly worse than other standard channels. With a transatlantic feed it steps down even more.

Joint promotion probably not part of golden boy deal. I reckon allegedly should do it as ppv get much more viewers & bring channel revenue!

Though you needed separate broadcast licence for PPV. Might be wrong

Think you do as well! Just think the channel would get more viewers for one off deal than subscribing for period!

no biggy, but i much prefer sky. there broadcasts are just better start to finish in my opinion, always enjoyed jim watts commentary and never shy of getting the names in, such as lennox or amir in for a bit of pundatary work.

bunce on the other hand makes me want to punch the TV. Any they need to change the BG behind him, his face blends in with the bright red screen.

As a viewer, more fights being televised is a good thing. I subscribe to BN so I'll be able to watch the fight (albeit probably only half of it as the recording will fcuk up).

BN winning the bid for this would seem to put to bed rumours of their financial struggle as they'll surely not have been able to pick this up on the cheap?

Unless Sky have already sewn up their 5th May boxing coverage with Froch v Bute?

I don't think those rumours will go away until all the people said to be confirmed come out and confirm that they have been paid in full and the rumours are untrue.

Froch v Bute another date I think. The channel need the fight so it probably blew most of its budget hoping it get the subscribers. I think it be better being a PPV casual might buy it that way!

So the rumours will persist until the un-named, rumoured non-recipients of money publicly state that, contrary to speculation, they have been paid?

No one is going to claim they have been paid, as that will then acknowledge that the rumour has some basis in fact and therefore needs denying, thus the rumour will persist until such a time that they don't get paid at which point the rumour becomes true and the internet can congratulate itself on being right all along.

Still too long for the casual fan though. That is better why did they reduce it when people were tied into 6 ?

I actually thought the feed during Donaire v Vasquez seemed ok to me for standard but it does vary per broadcast.

It does vary show to show. When I first got the channel it was ok on Cotto fight but it seems to have got worse recently.

As a subscriber to sky and allegedly i'd rather it of been on sky for hd purposes but it's better than it being on primetime. Sky's new deal and allegedly's steadily improving line up is only a good thing.

Is this the big announcement then? I thought it was supposed to be a fight made that will suprise everyone.
