Nothing wrong in announcing the fight when you what the fight, you're opponent wants the fight, you're manager is happy with the terms of the fight, BUT you're promoter, well il leave that for you to work out :OhYes:

This is such bullsh!t. How in all good conscience can Frank W@rren stand in the way of a potentially life changing fight? If Warren had lined Curtis up for a fight with Amir Khan or someone of that calibre I could understand it, but to be put in for a 4 x 3 at York Hall instead is the ultimate slap in the face. This is just a spiteful move imo

what you need to do curtis, when your football pensions etc mature when you are 35....is get yourself a promoters licence, and give it a go. your attitude is spot on and you are like a breath of fresh air.

x2 on the Promoter front. You'd get a lotta love in the UK.

Sorry to hear about the Dudey fight. Hope you get that chance in the end. By which stage you're an even better fighter :TU:

I'm afraid it's this sort of thing that will kill boxing in the end. It's been going on for a too long and it's about time the strangle hold that the main promoters have in boxing is broken. Two fighters want to fight each other, the both agree to the deal and in Curtis' case its a fight that will put him on the map should he win, especially after the showing against gavin. The business of promoters, managers and television companies living in seperate universes is making a mockery of boxing.

Look at the top of the tree where you have had negotiations for a Mayweather - Pacqauio fight going on for over two years now. There is something very wrong with this sport and the people who run it, who are virtual leeches, sucking the lifeblood out of the sport. I wonder how much longer people will put up with what is going on, including all the other crap that has infected boxing over the last 10 years and whether the establishments attititude will change at all.

Anyway, all the best Curtis, i admire the way you go for the toughest fights and challenge yourself :TU:

ps Can you imagine the scene these days in trying to match up Leonard, Hearns, Hagler and Duran

And if so, that makes this situation even worse (we are not talking Mayweather / Pac here).

I agree with Quixall above - can you imagine the current bunch (of world promoters) putting on fights between boxers of the calibre of Leonard, Hearns, Hagler and Duran ? - not a chance.

I think generally this is just the state of boxing. The people that run it have their own agenda & instead of doing what is best for boxing to flourish they just avoid who they want & just play the game.

How the fornicate can it be right that this happens? load of shite this, people can say what they want but certain people need to take a long hard look at the harm thay are doing to the sport of boxing.

it just stinks!

Unlucky old bean - I am curious though and this may have just been due to the stage that you were at, at the time. Didn't you mention that you had no delusions and British level would be about your limit? Whilst Paul is a 'nearly' world class fighter, do you feel you could beat him in reality? Im sure I've missed something and you have moved your focus to higher and better things than British level so apologies if that is the case :TU:
