To all those giving out the "Oh, now he's going to get a slow painful beating", what else did you expect him to get, regardless of whether he slapped the big lump?

I mean, Vitali has never been able to punch his bodyweight, so it wasn't like he was going to blast Chisora clean out the ring in thirty seconds. It was always likely to be a long drawn-out shellacking with Del Boy slowly whittled away by the giant's arm punches, so what exactly are you on about with the "He's only making it worse"-type comments? How exactly could he make it any worse?

I thought Adamek was about to drop to his knees & suck Big Klit off at one point, but he didn't exactly do him the world of good, did it?

Plus, there's something of the nasty bully about Vit (remember the shit he pulled after Wladdy got splattered by Sanders? Or when he took Peter's belt away & held it up in the air so the Nigerian couldn't reach it (deserved a good solid smack in the nads, for that imo))?

The disparity between how different people see the Klits astonish me, sometimes.

Obviously it's terrible that Chisora did that, and I wouldn't ever want it to happen again, but I don't half like it. I love the psychological aspect to boxing and this is awesome. Yes, Vitali will be pissed off. But that is a good thing for Chisora. Take him out of his comfort zone, ruffle his feathers, show him no respect, etc.

And it's great entertainment.

Chisora has a reputation for mind games but Klitschko has found little to get wound up about.

Plus Vitali, Merchant and HBO collectively forgot, or didn’t want to acknowledge, the TKO rule and practically hounded Lewis out of the sport with a false ‘controversy’ cloud hanging over him. The Klits are smart guys, but a huge amount of their fans do not understand what a TKO is.

I agree with that - Lennox retired because he wanted to. But Merchant and his friends were silly to say there was anything controversial about the ending. You'd think with all his experience, he'd have learned to tell the difference between an unsatisfying ending - which it was, and a controversial ending - which it wasn't.

Most of these things you see a press conferences are media stunts, its all been pre planned and agreed before hand, it gets free publicity... look its on bbc world news at the moment and will make all the nationals tomorrow.

Don't forget Kiltz is co-promoting it, he owns K2 promotions along with his brother, he be willing to take a slap to hype up the fight a little.

I agree with that - Lennox retired because he wanted to. But Merchant and his friends were silly to say there was anything controversial about the ending. You'd think with all his experience, he'd have learned to tell the difference between an unsatisfying ending - which it was, and a controversial ending - which it wasn't.

Granted ‘Hounded’ is a strong word but imagine how you would feel if you came out of a dog fight only to be treated the way Lewis was by Merchant and HBO. He verbally said he would rematch Vitali then probably listened to his creaking body and retired, just as VK did when pushing back the Hasim Rahman fights. Lewis was a top-level heavy and a great ambassador for the sport, Merchant shouldn’t have ditched the rules just to play to the boo boys in the crowd. He is supposed to display knowledge and objectivity.

HBO don't exactly hold themselves to a standard. They panned Vitali after the Byrd fight, after the Lewis fight they were in love with him-they were practically orgasming when he beat Johnson and Sanders. Now he's boring and they won't touch him with a shitty stick.
