After watching that, I think both men should be told by the BBBofC that their days of fighting in this country are over. That is not restraint of trade, that is simply two fighters trying to act like children or animals in an era where we have enough trouble with people behaving like that. And to be honest, there looked like (an intentional?) lack of security allowed that to happen.
Stop talking nonsense, haye was provoked and reacted, it's just sold another fight, if you don't want to watch it then don't.
Where is the line supposed to be drawn, then? When does that behaviour stop being rewarded? When does it stop being defended? Anything to keep the little bubble that is boxing and its media from imploding eh?
IMO, I would be quite happy to never see either man fight again. If they do fight again, I will not put my hand in my pocket to see it.

From slapping a man in the mouth, with whom you intend to engage in a sporting contest later, to spitting into the face of the same mans brother, to then physically confronting the fighter, after you were fairly beaten, and thinking that this is acceptable behaviour and in some way makes you valid for a rematch, is laughable and should be rejected out of hand by all concerned and the viewing public.

And then the press conference, Chisora confronting Haye, Haye assaulting Chisora with a glass bottle, both men forgetting that they are supposed to be their most effective and violent selves inside the ring not out of it, and then Chisora threatening extreme violence against Haye. Not saying 'see you in the ring, David', or 'lets settle this like the boxers we are', instead he resorts to threatening to shoot and burn him. Not big, not clever, and the whole situation is not a good example to anyone, a young fan or a young boxer.

Contrast this with the behaviour of the Klitschko's - they have behaved impeccably all throughout this, and yet everyone is trying to applaud Haye and Chisora for 'selling the fight', as if it needed to be sold on anything other than the combination of their fighting styles and their career arcs. Why are we not talking more about the good example of the Kitschko's and less about Haye and Chisora?
i really do wonder if some of people who post on here actually follow the sport, ali accused frazier of being the white man puppet before jumpinging him live on parkinson, this is part of boxing. Hayes just threw a punch with a bottle in his hand, thats not glassing someone it was just unfortunate.

Ricardo Mayorga did far worse in the run up to fights, it was stupid but no one should be banned.

They have both talked themselves into a tune up before they fight another Klitschko, realistically they could fight round May and then have a big Klitschko show down at the end of the summer.

It'll fill the O2 no problem as a lot of people will want both people to lose. Haye would win IMHO and be in a better place to fight Vitali having had a tune up against a live opponent, baring in mind he was coming of the Audley Harrison fight when he took Wlademir which didn't help his preparedness.

Fighters go up to each others faces tons of times and don't glass each other. Haye should of just kept arguing or got the hell out of there. Haye was getting up in Wladimir's face a few times before they fought so he knows not to glass someone just because a boxer gets close to your face.

yes but chisora usually does something when he gets up in someones face as we have seen demonstrated, he had also been telling the media he was going to smack haye when he saw him.

This is the number 1 question for everyone complaining about hayes reaction?

Would have waited to see if the 16st heavyweight with a reputation of spitting, slapping, biting and kissing people who comes into contact with who had threatened to smack you up to the media, was going to attack you before hitting him? bearing in mind he had just crossed a room full of people with his entourage to get up in your face.

If your answer to this question is - YES i would have remained calm and risked being made to look a tool infront of the media or laid out by the big man. My answer to you would be grow a pair!

It's actually one of the top stories on MSN this morning. http://news.uk.msn.com/uk/german-police ... over-brawl

I fail to see how this much interest is bad for boxing. It is about two men fighting, no? All the drama and soap opera outside the ring is part of it and if it generates interest... People still love Tyson. I appreciate good sportsmanship and manners but to love this sport you must also love violence. Everybody hates fighters who aren't violent ENOUGH- the distinct lack of violence in the Haye-Wlad fight turned the general public off boxing. People want blood. Chisora-Haye promises that.

It's got me excited for a fight between the two of them!

The build up would be immense even if, in my opinion, Haye would KO Chisora within the first half...

Bad taste maybe but if this gets people xcited in Boxing then I say keep at it lads!!!

There is a Naseem Hamed interview somehere, where he talks about the Augie Sanchez fight. He says after a dreary press conference he pulled Sanchez into a meeting room and told him that they have to do something to mix it up a bit, get a buzz going. We need to sell this fight, kind of stuff.

Hamed knew the deal better than anyone.

X2 This summer, at the O2. Probably the best fight that can be made in heavyweight boxing. Both about the same size, Haye is the harder puncher, Chisora has the better chin. The build up would be amazing.

Stick some up and coming UK heavies on the bill, Price etc, against someone who will be competitive.

Goldmine! I'll be ringside!

Needs a bigger place than the O2 - haye sold out the MEN which isnt much smaller fighting Ruiz. Old trafford would be a good venue or the etihad.

I'm sure it wasn't staged, DH planned to gatecrash, but don't think anyone else wanted him there.

He definitely only wants the king size payday Vitali would give him, and a brawl with Del didn't help that at all, because no way they want the risk a Chisora fight involves, because the pay day will be peanuts compared to the Klit jack pot he's after.

What a load of sh1t. Times can't change, no? Just because youve no principles doesnt mean we have to see boxing dragged to the level of WWF wrestling. Not everyone needs the drama and immorality to maintain an interest in the sport, its a shame you do.

Notice how Haye was playing up the story about nobody wanting him there, before the fight, with that bullshit story about Vitali's security people trying to eject him?

I'm not personally involved with either fighter so I don't really give a monkeys either way on this.

The dragging boxing into disrepute argument is a peculiar one to me as there are a multitude of events that bring the sport into far greater disrepute than this and people are generally happy to see them swept under the carpet - bad refereeing, peculiar judging, drugs, alphabet bodies, mismatches, unpaid fighters - where are the calls for bans for those guilty of the above yet it can be argued that they are the reasons that the sport is where it is today (marginalised, niche, spectator unfriendly).

Yeah the brawl wasn't particularly edifying, but lets not get overly precious - no-one was seriously hurt. This has made an interesting fight all but unavoidable and in the aftermath of a Klitschko fight all the talk is of the loser fighter a previously vanquished Klit victim. When the assumption was that Vitali would easily handle Del and then move on to a big summer fight with Haye, making Del boy v Haye into an attractive proposition, financially, would have seemed impossible. Now? I'm not saying it was staged, or at least not completely, but the idea that Haye would hijack the press-conference to build a fight with Chisora at the expense of Vitali is entirely believable.

Not really. The elements I mentioned are all discussed but generally accepted as part of boxing. There is never any outrage because everyone assumes nothing can change.

Ask who is the happiest man this morning in this whole affair? An unheralded Brit in a hopeless title fight against an unbeatable Ukrainian puts in a spirited performance in front of a surprisingly large viewing audience after the channel showing the fight removed its encryption. After the fight, no-one cares what the winner has to say as he is overshadowed by a brawl. It'll be all over the papers, headlines on sky sports and other sports bulletins and the clamour for Chisora v Haye will be deafening. And a man with a face like an amphibian will be rubbing his hands and smiling to himself all the way back to his manor house in Hertfordshire.

Question to the real fans - when has boxing been bigger and better?

When characters have been involved -
Ali
Nas
Tyson
Eubank
Toney

or

When characters arent involved -
Post lewis / pre haye heavyweight scene?

Yeah them klitschkos really had the masses tunning in and the sport booming :TU:

Maybe you would like a borefest - you obviously didnt like the eubank v benn era and ali v frazer days.

God that Muhammed Ali what a mess he made of the sport copying the antics of a wrestler to promote his fights and the sport.

I hear curling is on eurosport 8, quick maybe you should tune in it sounds like your thing!
