When will the opponent be announced?

I reckon Sept 10th.

It won't be Tapia anyway, he is fighting on the 16th. Anybody know if charges were press following his pub brawl a few weeks ago?

Another ridiculous WBO title fight announced v TBA.

So Harrison gets a couple months preperation while the opponent gets a few weeks at best.

When are SN going to stop this shite?

The WBO go down in my estimation by the week, what a shite title and sanctioning body.

I agree, it seems to be one of the only bodies that lets their fighters fight bums and still get to keep the belt!

Harrison will fight some ex doorman or road sweeper that just happens to be in the WBO's top 20 but doesn't feature in the other belts top 50! He'll probably try and call Dazzo Williams out of retirement or offer him one last bumper pay deal.

I'll go for Monday 26th September, a real late one here. They do need to sort this crap out, I just don't understand how a world title fight can be scheduled without a challenger.

Even worse, tho not by much - a few weeks back there was a WBE eliminator - some guy v TBA. Some rigorous rankings system they must operate when they make up one half of an official eliminator

To be fair....

Whilst I do agree that the WBOgus is shite, and their level of challengers for titles and even their mandatories is often simply attrocious....

Harrison has actually been matched fairly hard in his career compared to other British champs of recent times.

Look at his resume, and you will see a lot of decent names on his ledger. Tracy Patterson, Chacon, Medina, and Polo are hardly mugs.

What is needed desperately now though, is that defining fight, because the defences are beginning to get a bit stale. The Brodie fight was a good one in terms of it being an interesting domestic scrap, but now he needs to be fighting the likes of Chi.

It seems that Chi may be forced to retire according to something I read the other day, so that leaves Marquez, who is a bad matchup for Harrison or Chris John, who I confess I know little about.

The featherweight division is not talent packed as it once was, the big names have moved on and up, and it's not so easy to make a meaningful matchup as Marquez wouldn't be a draw in his own living room.

Medina has been washed up for years and Polo got made to look like a mug by Marquez.

Hardly cream of the crop and worthy title contenders!

But like you say, Featherweight div. is lacking a bit of talent, that is why Harrison is the WBO champ in the first place!

The Featherweight devision is lacking and thats why I would argue that Medina and Polo were very worthy contendors. Who out there is more worthy, you could have argued Juarez - but he has just lost, who else? Leon? Gainer? Browne? Cook? Which non title holder is more worthy than Polo or Medina.

I think Marquez will make EVERY current featherweight, champion or challenger look stupid. Polo looked like Hagler compared to Gainer's effort vs Marquez.
