bruno vs either klitscho

Post by tommo100 »

could big frank upset either brother,he certainly would`nt be shoved around,he most likely was as strong as either of them and certainly was always in shape, the slow plodding of both vitali and vladimir would`nt sap bruno`s stamina to much either,i reckon that sledgehammer right of franks would detonate on the jaw in the middle rounds, vit or vlad slumped on the canvas, their cosy world shattered like a broken pint glass :)

i really enjoyed your post it made me laugh out aloud with the broken pint glass comment.
Its exactly the way i would have put it about Bruno-Wlad for a long time.

My view has changed lately, I think Vitali-bruno is competitive for 7-8 and than bruno gets stopped around the 10th in a fight not to disamilar to lewis-bruno, except the finish isnt going to be anywhere as explosive.

Bruno-Wlad, Wlad is a little quicker on his feet and Bruno is ahead after 4-5 but than suddenly wlads spoiling and counters start to take their effect and bruno is worn down over the distance.

Wlad's counters take effect? The guy hardly ever counter-punches . .

I agree Vitali stops him late, but I'd probably edge a peak Bruno to stop Wladimir, either guy could be stopped in that one.

Bruno beat an iron man in McCall and gave Tyson and Lewis hell.

What are Wladimir's qualifications to beat him? WHAT?

Wladimir was demolished by an old fat 90s fringe contender who could not compete within his own era yet splatterd Wladimir.

I'd give Bruno a 10% chance of beating a prime Vitaly

And about a 25% chance of beating Wlad

Vitaly wins by TKO 10/11 rounds

Wlad about 9 rounds

Bruno is an extremely dangerous opponent for the weak chinned Vlad

Vitali is far tougher and would wear Frank down in rounds 8-10

I don't know about iron man, but no one would disagree that McCall was an iron CHINNED man, and Bruno most certainly beat him. He was the first man to have Mike Tyson visibly hurt and he was leading 4 round to 2 against Lewis before being stopped. He's better than anyone either of the Klitschkos have beaten. That said, Vitali stops him late while leading on the scorecards in a competitive fight. Wlad-Bruno is a toss up, either man could be knocked out, if pushed I'd go for Wlad, but it's only a 55-45 proposition.

Bruno had a glass jaw, horrible stamina, and was mentally weak. Hes not beating either Klitchko with those three monumental cracks in his armor.

Bruno vs Vitali - Bruno gets KO'd or stopped.
Bruno vs Wlad - Bruno gets thoroughly outpointed.

Either way, either fight.... It's a Bruno loss in my book.

Frank Bruno had stamina problems and Tyson had his number mentally but he did not have a glass jaw. Bruno only ever lost to top drawer fighters who were really big punchers - Tyson, Lewis, Witherspoon and Bonecrusher. Even then, Bruno took plenty of big shots before being stopped.

Bruno spent his entire career fighting retreads in order to build up a ranking for a title shot only to get knocked out when he stepped up, so it would figure that he always lost to top fighters since that was the only time he was facing them. McCall wasnt exactly a top fighter and I seem to recall Bruno BARELY getting out of that fight alive. Besides, what are Wlad and Vitali if not top fighters who can punch? Not to mention both have better stamina and advantages in size. Bruno gets KOd by both. He might have his moments as he usually did but also as usual his mental weakness, and stamina problems would conspire to expose his jaw and then its another loss by KO to a top HW in his prime and back to fighting guys who are washed up to protect his rating in hopes of getting another big money fight down the road.

I agree, Bruno probably would lose against either Klit, although he would have a chance against Wlad as Wlad didn't have the best whiskers either. However, whilst I agree that Bruno could sometimes run out of gas, I don't think he had a glass jaw. He got stopped on five occasions in 45 fights and all his losses were to tip-top fighters, which hardly makes him glass jawed. He also beat quite a few good fighters too - McCall, Coetzee, Bugner, Carl Williams etc.
McCall was a sparring partner level opponent which is why his victory over Lewis was so embarrassing. He was nothing special at all. Williams, Coetzee, and Bugner were well past their prime, Bugner by at least a decade and Williams and Coetzee by several years. Even then Williams (who was coming off a KO loss), Bugner, and Coetzee were also rans who lost to the best competition they faced. Hardly on the level of either Klitchko, all of whom would have been defeated by either of the brothers in one manner or another.

Almost... and then he was knocked out.

As for the relative amount of talent, well, you are discussing two HWs known for never capitalizing on their ability and from a generation called the generation of lost HWs. Theres a reason for that and STILL Bruno failed to beat them.

That all being said, its highly debateable that either Spoon or Smith were in their "prime" (whatever that may have been for either, as they both had extremely up and down careers). Spoon was famously out of shape for that fight and quite possibly in the middle of a drug binge. He lost his very next bout by one round KO. Smith was only 14 fights into 62 fight career fighting his first fight away from home and after defeating Bruno would lose four of his next five bouts. It was the first time he had gone over 8 rounds and only the second time he had gone over 6. Bruno was also the most experienced winning opponent Smith had ever faced to that point by a long shot.

I think frank bruno would of beaten wladmair klitshcko if it was 2004 now hes alot more stable and would eventually break bruno down 11 or 12 ko, vitali would stop bruno around 7 or 8.

Its simply incredible that Klitscho fans see the brothers as top fighters now so automatically assume they would be top fighters in any era. Like Frank Bruno wouldn't run amok in this era and have a massive rep. As if Sam Peters, Derek Chisora, David Haye or Corrie Sanders would be big wins or even top 10 contenders in years gone by.

It is a totally flawed logic and I can't believe people out there in cyberspace judge the current division in such a facile way. They are champions of a dung heap.

Bruno goes down against either. He has his moments. It’s competitive until he gets hurt, fails to hold on, takes a barrage of shots and is stopped for his own good by the ref.

Although he stands a punchers chance against both, more so Wlad, I reckon he could gas out and be stopped late on by the pair of them.

Did I really read that Wladimir Klitschko would beat Gerrie Coetzee in this thread?

Egads! He got whacked in double quick time by a fat, 38 year old, semi-retired poor man's version of Coetzee in Corrie Sanders! He imploded versus Lamon Brewster - a vagrant's Oliver McCall.

Just wow.

Bruno did have good fundementals, power and jab but he was soooo slow. Wlad easily outspeeds him with his hand and foot. Wlad, though cautious, cracks hard enough to stop Bruno, though Bruno's jab gives both of them problems, probably Vitali moreso.

Bruno loses to both, in game, decent efforts. Wlad would really crack him hard and stop him. Vitali, with the jab giving him problems and his defence being a little looser, would probably be willing to trade with Bruno, a little more and probably stop him a little earlier than little brother.
