i really do wonder if some of people who post on here actually follow the sport, ali accused frazier of being the white man puppet before jumpinging him live on parkinson, this is part of boxing. Evidence for this: the fact that this tomfoolery is entirely absent from the amateur game, and yet the Olympic boxing will still be well attended. Evidence, part two: that fights take place all over the world, week in and week out, without these shenanigans.

Another part of the picture you seem unwilling to focus properly on is the difference between selling a fight and the thuggery that was on display last night. Ali taunting Frazier should have been unacceptable at the time, and would be today. Everyone but you can see that. As for Eubank and Benn - when did either man threaten to shoot the other? If you cannot see the difference between the essentially pantomime action of some fighters as compared to the undoubtedly real antagonism on display, then more fool you. There is a world of difference between promoting a fight and threatening (and committing) real violence outside the ring.

Yes, I would have done. Because, at some point, you have to say that a line has been crossed. The fame and notoriety of the sport would have been diminished, but, and this is my sincere opinion, I do not think that a fight between two competitive men needs semi-criminal drama to sell itself, nor does it need the almost casual acceptance of the criminality of its richest practioners, as opposed to the, as I say, pantomime antics that are in all fairness, and as you say, quite traditional. But theres a line to be drawn.

This isn't a criminal punishment, its simply morals vs money, and I'm not ashamed to say I'm not on the side of Haye or Chisoras bank balance. They are the ones who have to worry about that, and if there are enough people who disagree with me on that, then they will have nothing to worry about, will they?

If Chisora can get away with just a fine then it will be a bit of double standards. Tyson vs Lewis got called off cause of the investigation of the shanningans of the New York press conference.... didn't Tyson get suspended also?

That was the richest fight in boxing at the time, if the authorities risked losing that - then something will be done to Chisora.

After watching that, I think both men should be told by the BBBofC that their days of fighting in this country are over. That is not restraint of trade, that is simply two fighters trying to act like children or animals in an era where we have enough trouble with people behaving like that. And to be honest, there looked like (an intentional?) lack of security allowed that to happen.

Stop talking nonsense, haye was provoked and reacted, it's just sold another fight, if you don't want to watch it then don't.

Where is the line supposed to be drawn, then? When does that behaviour stop being rewarded? When does it stop being defended? Anything to keep the little bubble that is boxing and its media from imploding eh?
IMO, I would be quite happy to never see either man fight again. If they do fight again, I will not put my hand in my pocket to see it.

From slapping a man in the mouth, with whom you intend to engage in a sporting contest later, to spitting into the face of the same mans brother, to then physically confronting the fighter, after you were fairly beaten, and thinking that this is acceptable behaviour and in some way makes you valid for a rematch, is laughable and should be rejected out of hand by all concerned and the viewing public.

And then the press conference, Chisora confronting Haye, Haye assaulting Chisora with a glass bottle, both men forgetting that they are supposed to be their most effective and violent selves inside the ring not out of it, and then Chisora threatening extreme violence against Haye. Not saying 'see you in the ring, David', or 'lets settle this like the boxers we are', instead he resorts to threatening to shoot and burn him. Not big, not clever, and the whole situation is not a good example to anyone, a young fan or a young boxer.

Contrast this with the behaviour of the Klitschko's - they have behaved impeccably all throughout this, and yet everyone is trying to applaud Haye and Chisora for 'selling the fight', as if it needed to be sold on anything other than the combination of their fighting styles and their career arcs. Why are we not talking more about the good example of the Kitschko's and less about Haye and Chisora?

Yep, we are are a funny lot boxing fans..... at least this is a competitive fight - two fighters probably ranked around the same level, similar age, similar size. Its nothing more than a decent European level fight - but at least its competitive.

Haye might be the reason why there is no Sky box office, but lets not forget - Haye vs Harrison was in such demand that it cause the Sky box office system to crash.... now that was nothing but a mismatch, but people saw this in their droves and it even made geniune knowledgable fans give weird and wonderful predictions.
