i have a question regarding evander holyfield. I have obvisousely read and heard evander hoylfield got screwed almost as bad a roy jones did in Seoul.
From what i hear, he knocked the guy out right befoee the bell rang, but the ref said he hit the guy after the bell and evander lost by DQ, and settled for the bronze while the guy he "knocked out" ended up winning the gold.
anyone wanna tell me the details??
didnt at the ceremony, the gold medalist had evander stand at the top of the podium with him???

Holyfield did not get screwed at all. He was clearly the best boxer in the division. Hey, he was one of the best in the entire tournament but even he must obey the rules. Holyfield threw one punch after every stop, break or ring signal during the whole fight. The referee screamed "stop" TWICE before Holyfield landed a final left hook that floored Kevin Barry. The referee had no option but to disqualify him. It's amateur boxing, you can't bend the rules like they do in pro boxing. Unfortunately the referee was from Yugoslavia, the same as Anton Josipovic who won the gold by Walk Over (Holyfield was disqualified and Barry suspended for 30 days).

Otis can never ever be on the level that Holyfield once was thats a fact.
IMHO I think the call was right it depends on how you look at that fight I have it taped and I still go back and fourth but deep down I know Holyfield hit the man after the break call.
However during the fight there was alot of that from Barry he would hit on the break or hold and hit and he was warned several times more than Evander infact so my question is being that I feel it was the right call can we also say it was an unfair call? did the official show biasedness towards the American fighter?
