haye is not the man that should be held responsible for this. chisora had been behaving disgracefully both at the weigh in and pre fight.hes got well documented previous for causing trouble was seriously reprimanded for biting, all the ex girlfriend stuff etc. hes a well khnown loose cannon. if such a guy was bearing down on you, with his gang behind him, what would you do?? just let chisora do whatever is in his mind? haye knows about banter, and publicity, and PR and he also knows whats acceptable, the do's and dont's.Chisora is just doing a muppets impersonation of tyson. he should not be rewarded for this kind of behaviour.
now any fighter who has to fight chisora will be nervous about his pre fight antics, creating potential for ohter serious flare ups, because very few fighters are as cool and gentlemanly as the klits. If chisora escapes serious punishment it will just encourage other undeserving two bob copycats....

fair play, i agree with most of that. Chisora threatened to "slap" him on numerous occasions, and in the moments before he confronted him.
Haye stood at the back of the room shouting back and forth, i dont think for a second he would ever have tried to get near the table or chisora.

It was chisora who decided to confront him. It was chisora who braught his entourage to confront 1 man. It was chisora who took off his robe like a kid in the playground about to fight. It was chisora who stuck his face in Hayes. And given the most recent photo i seen, it was Chisora who made first contact, it seems he pressed his fist into Hayes face.

Haye reacted like you would expect a fighter to react under the above circumstances. Chisora just sealed any doubt of the street scum he is when he started threatening to shoot haye. Lets not forget this is a guy convicted of beating a woman, and recently slapper Vitali & spat on Wlad. Haye on the other hand is a showman who knows what hes doing. Chisora is geniuine in his actions.

Watching it again numerous times I dont think Haye did anything wrong. I originally thought he had some blame for being at the press conference however he is right where he says Boente mentions his name 1st. Haye being Haye of course is gonna say sumthin if someone says anything about him. Chisora walks towards him and takes his jacket off as if he wants a scrap with his crew in toe. Chisora put his head in so Haye belted him one before Chisora could belt him. He did not bottle him or glass him.

But the facts remain that Haye threw the first punches which started the fracas off.

Chisora is a loon for sure .. but he walked up to Haye, to no doubt, insult and wind Haye up. Hence why he took the microphone with him.

Haye then fired off a couple punches ... Haye is 100% guilty.
If Chisora had slapped Haye or spat water onto him ... some of the blame could have been shared.

No. Haye is the guilty party here.
As for threats to shoot or burn him. Come on  ..

Haye was being his usual parasite self. Trying to get himself a big pay day on the back of Chisoras gallant showing.

Oh right, thanks for clearing that up Dave. So it was all completely Del's fault, and you were just an innocent bystander. What a crock of shite - Haye needs to apologise and accept responsisbility in a hurry, or he's not going to get that license back. He might think he can bullshit his way through this, like he's done with boxing fans in the past, but this wont wash AT ALL ( no matter what his fan boys on here say ).

He gatecrashed the press conference uninvited, hit Chisora with a glass bottle, punched his much older trainer, then threw a camera tri pod and ( luckily for him ) hit his own trainer over the head.

I agree Chisora acted like an idiot, but Haye was the one at fault here.

And note Chisora's manager, grinning as he sees Del Boy get up and go over to Haye.......

I don't think anyone can be suprised that haye reacted like that, after chisoras threats at haye, the slapping, the spitting, the wife beating, the kissing, haye probably knew he was instore for chisoras latest PR stunt, be it a debagging, a lick on the face, or a kick in the bollox, chisora is a nutter.

I'm not a Haye fan boy, far from it - but I do see Chisora as more of the guilty party here. There is evidence that Chisora made first contact, not exactly a punch but a clench fist was against his chin, before David attempted to lamp him.

Couple of corrections. He didn't hit Chisora with a glass bottle. He clenched his fist around a bottle.

From Haye's statement, he was there as a member of the allegedly team. He might not have been excepted by K2 to be there but looks like he had a cred, so I think some of the blame could lie with allegedly. Note the same link as the Groves vs Degale / Clev vs Bellew stuff. Given that Bonte kicked him out of a ringside interview with a allegedly channel (I'm assuming it was EPIX) - then it was a bit cheeky of allegedly to continue to use someone who wasn't welcome.

Chisora instigated the thing, Haye wasn't even talking about Chisora. Haye was responding to Bonte's claims about Haye not accepting a fight with Klitchsko.

It's not good for boxing but Haye is not a pro boxer with a license he is a civilian and In many ways Haye did the right thing never let a nutter with previous form, who's threatened you get near to to carry out the threat. Best defence is offence and all that. Don Charles was a fool to start swinging at Haye, and got his just rewards.

It was the use of the bottle that made Don Charles lose it apparently and I can understand that. If it's a fair fight, we tend to let them get on with it, but if someone uses a weapon on your mate, you want to kill them, they've broken the rules. To use Adam Booth's terminology, it was 'bitch' behaviour from Haye and I totally understand Don Charles's wanting to lamp him. As an aside, I'm told that afterwards Haye said Charles caught him with a really good right-hander!

I can get that but I believe he punched out in anger whilst holding the bottle, red mist moment of retaliation/madness rather than an intentional bottling/glassing. Chisora's team all aggressively descended on Haye and he attacked first. In hindsight I bet he regrets the whole thing but I reckon he'd feel just as bad if Chisora double slapped him then security stepped in leaving Haye looking like a pushover laughing stock.

Think it's quite clear who threw the first punch and how the glass bottle got involved. Chisora likes to hype up and build tension, but I don't think he'd ever go as far as actually bottling a fellow boxer. No amount of words or provoking by Chisora justified Haye swinging with a bottle, if at all!

This is the highest level of the biggest division of the worlds most prestigious fighting sports... Things like this will happen from time to time when adrenaline, personalities, testosterone and frustrations bubble over.

Hope they address it but don't blow it out of proportion. I hope Haye apologises for throwing the first bottle punch as that was what took it too far!

charles is partially to blame for this ,as he should have kept his man under control.cant imagine jimmy tibbs, tony sims, manny steward etc acting in the same manner. they wouldnt have let their fighters put themselves into that kind of situation as it was obvious what was gonna happen

I think the natural reaction is to hit first, CHisora has been making threats you cant sit back and get hit.

Isnt there a pic kicking around somwhere that shows Chisora with his fist up against Hayes face? You could say that was first contact.

on the subject of bottling...if you are gonna bottle somebody, either you grab the neck and swing the base into your opponents face /head,or, you break the bottle and stab it into face/neck/body, or a bit of both. haye quite clearly did neither.he threw a punch.

how is that quite clear who threw the first punch ???????????????????

its a still photo, chisora looked like he put his head in hayes face first but a still photo of haye hitting him doesnt show that.

imo its all down to chasora thinking hes crazy. am glad haye done what he did. chisora is renowned for acting like a prat, look what hes already done in the past, he has kissed people at weigh ins, he has bit some ones ear he slapped Klitchsko, and spat at his brother, like i said he thinks hes crazy. haye on the other hand has never to my knowledge started any trouble outside the ring.

Haye did not bottle him. If you wanna see a bottling go out in the Big Market on a Friday night and you will see what a bottling is. He hit him with a bottle in his hand. The bit of the bottle which touched chisora was the base of it which you would expect unless he was holding a minature bottle in his hand.

Just out of interest, whats Haye's opinion about him picking up a camera tripod and smashing it over Adam Booth's head? No reference to that I see...

I personally think Haye was in the right for sticking one on Chisora, definitely self-defence on the grounds of a pre-emptive strike given Chisora's past behaviour. What doesnt make Haye's actions so reasonable was that he was holding a bottle at the time he threw a punch and that he then went on to wield a camera tripod...

Having that bottle in his hand could have been a whole different story... It's potentially fatal or could cause some career damaging injuries to both of them. If you look thru some images just before they clashed, the bottle is actually in Haye other hand seconds before. So did he change hands with the intention of using the bottle?

You are foolish if you support Haye assaulting Chisora, throwing punches with 500 cameras watching and out of the ring is no excuse, even if they are boxers!

If this was a court case Haye would get off scott free , he had reason to believe he was under threat and therfor defended himself with what was in my view reasonable force if as it seems the bottle wasnt used to strike Chisora , even if it was i think he would still get away with it .

So in my view Haye has no case to answer to the law or to the british boxing board , if boxing punishes haye he could just take it to the court of sports arbitration and win .

Chisora on the other hand went to haye , had previous and had made previous offers to slap haye , now he didnt throw first so could be argued that neither has he commited an assault .

Chisora's stumbling block is the threats to shoot haye , that could be considered criminal , but in all honesty would be difficult to prove beyond doubt that he said it in anything other than anger , and would probably also get away with that .

Chisora could find the threats can lead him being disciplined by the board for bringing the sport into disrepute but in no other way should either be charged by the law or boxing .

theres more chance he would be convicted of assault on Wladimir if he pressed charges in my view .

Haye was being his usual parasite self. Trying to get himself a big pay day on the back of Chisoras gallant showing.

All haye was guilty of was following the age old tradition boxing of showing up at a press conference to try and bait someone into agreeing to a future fight and create a buzz. I think we can all agree that other than being a loud mouth haye has never done anything threatening, violent or despicable. Chisora on the other hand has caused trouble with every fighter he has come into contact with, assaulted a woman and had a boxing ban for biting another fighters ear.

I often find it unfair when people say, this person or that person threw the first punch so its their fault . And the end of the day if you dont want trouble dont go looking for it, why should Haye wait to get slapped, bit, hit, headbutted or spat at, you will also notice from the pictures that chisora shoved his fist in hayes face and had just passed his mic to someone when haye punched him so was clearly squaring up for trouble, he had theatened it and almost always does something face to face.

Why should people back down and be bullied by thugs, haye didnt get the beating chisora did. Its easy for people to say well done to the klitschkos for not hitting chisora, but two six foot seven world champion boxers stood with each other and a large entourage arent likely to be that intimidated by chisora, haye on the other hand was facing a fully fledged HW in fighting condition and two or three of his big six foot plus mates. People who say they wouldnt have hit out first are people who cant fight, which there is no shame in, but its not fair to then criticise a person who can fight for getting in there first when likely to be attacked.

Also regarding other peoples comments on the glassing; as other posters have said haye did not bottle chisora, he threw a punch and had the bottle he was already drinking from in his hand. If he had bottled him rather than give him a left right combination i would be very disappionted. He also only threw the tripod when people were still coming after him and he had tried to back off.

I think his statement was a pretty fair one. He may be a big mouth but he isn't a thug, he didnt meet wlad on the stairs and try fighting him all them years ago. Chisora is the opposite.
