Everyone in Britain who wants to appear like they have a valid opinion is gonna jump all over boxing because Haye and Chisora are easy targets. Everyone outside Britain who has an axe to grind is gonna jump all over British boxing because Haye and Chisora are easy targets.

Yeah, that makes sense. Boxing gets on the front pages of the papers for he 1st time in years, therefore must be dead.

Like when Ali killed boxing when he gave up the title and retired or 3 years, or when Tyson bit Holyfield.

Dead, dead, dead.

:OhYes:

...and they're masters of it. A duo of presenters will usually hold very opposing views on 2 or three issues in each show. Neither of them will truly believe what they are saying most of the time.

Darren Gough was saying pandas aren't real animals the other week. That they've been men in costumes for 100s of years to make money. This is the reason they don't reproduce (according to Gough)...

... needless to say many people bought in in agreement/disagreement lol. I even had the text ''how do men in Panda suits eat bamboo?'' read out

Goughy then replied - ''no, you've got me wrong. I'm not saying all Pandas are men in suits, just some of them''

Yep.

If the discussion for their show is nazism, one has to be pro and applaud Hitler saying he had it all correct.

It's how their show works. The embarrassing thing is how many people actually listen to it regularly and then get irate and call in!!!

Only time I ever listen to that shite is when I'm in a cab. It seems to be broadcast on cabbie FM.

It's only certain presenters. Durham, Gough, Matterface, all attempt to be controversial for the sake of it. Boring

Hawksby and Jacobs are quality.

Talksport works along the same line as the American radio stations with the shock jock priniciple, if you have really outspoken DJ on your air either at breakfast or drivetime to the two main times people will listen to the radio spouting the usual nonsense you are going to get tons of texts and callers generating revenue and also on the emails you can then retain their email addresses for promotional material from companies who advertise on Talksport's shows simple as that.

No depth to anything on Talksport these days, it's gone totally downhill save for Stan Collymore.

Hate to say it but Buncey's babbling on channel 456 is leagues above in every area.

Ah it's a typical sensationalist reaction by a station which thrives on sensationalism and scandal.

Talksport should be renamed Talkshite or Talkfootball. It's a radio station for the typical bloke in the pub that thinks he knows everything about sport, mainly football...or should I say Premiership football, but actually knows nothing.

They're talking about it on LBC too. Apparently our very own Jane Couch was on earlier, but I didn't get to hear her but I was impressed with what Frank Maloney said and how he came across.

Durham is a prick, just a shock jock whose job is to get people riled up to phone in and disagree.

The only time these morons discuss boxing is when something negative is going on. Matthew Syeed was slamming it in the Times apparently this morning. Fools like Durham and that wanker "The Moose" were laying in as well and I didn't see it but no doubt James Lawton in The Independent is having his say as well, he only writes about boxing to slate it. That's the only time those types discuss it.

Props to Colin Hart who came on to Talk Sport and spoke very well I thought on the Gough/Durham show. Durham was slating boxing and saying it was dead etc before Hart came on but Durham didn't mute in the interview apart from to agree with Hart, even though he had spent the previous 20 minutes saying the exact opposite...spineless pudendum :box:

As for Gough he's just a right wing sellout. He gives off this Northern lad, working class image but it's bollocks.

One amazing quote I heard was (from old Goughy on TalkSport again, sorry) that boxing used to be about discipline and self respect but now it's just about egoes and money.

Not at the grass roots it's not. Spit and sawdust gyms in the back streets of Manchester, Belfast, London, Dublin...wherever. There's no money there. Lads are still fighting for respect, channelling aggression and turning their backs on lives of crime because of grass roots boxing like they always have done.

You can't sum up the entire sport and its history into what happened on Saturday night. Absolute rubbish.

These people always have to fill in the blanks when it comes to boxing, it takes too much dedication to follow it properly when you only have a passing interest.

It would be nice to hear one of these prats from Talksport or BBC admit that they don't actually follow boxing as a sport, instead of singing the same old "it's not how it used to be" tune. They are simply not qualified to comment.

Next time you hear some cretin start slagging boxing in person just say "ok mate, just tell me the names of 20 active boxers..."

True. Thing is, the likes of Haye and even Chisora have trained twice, maybe three times harder than those lads u mention above, to get where they are today.

Boxing is one sport where to get to the top u have to put so much in, so even at the top level it's still not all about ego's. Goughy and co chat shite all day long.
