Sergio Mora
Contender winner Sergio Mora lost in the 2000 US Olympic Trials first to Jermain Taylor and then to Anthony Hanshaw. Anyone knows anything more about his amateur carreer?

Yep, I know quite a few......
Most, once they turn pro, don't come around and/or don't give back to the amateur program. It's a shame - these guys could be excellent role models. Diego Corralles is currently registered as an amateur official in Nevada and comes to shows, both in Nevada and Southern California; Shane Mosley is opening his own amateur/pro gym soon. Never see Oscar or Fernando.
Sergio Mora's Accomplishments as an amateur:
1998 Golden Gloves - decisioned Peter Manfredo in his second bout and lost in his third (quarterfinals).
1998 National PAL - lost in his first bout.
1999 - U.S. Championships - lost in semifinals to Anthony Hanshaw.
1999 - USA-Canada Dual - won.
1999 - US Challenge - lost in first and second bouts
1999 - USA Korea - won
1999 - Ranked 4th at 156.
2000 - Won Western Trials (automatic slot into Olympic Trials)
2000 - Olympic Trials - lost to Jermaine Taylor and Anthony Hanshaw.

To follow up on Localbox's question about returning pros - Diego Corralles and Ishe Smith both spent time at a local So. Calif. tournament over the weekend. They spent time with the kids and were very patient about signing autogaphs and taking pictures. Both are true role models and great people.
Ishe is planning to spend some time at the National PAL tournament in Oxnard, California, the first week in October.
