How about Charley Burley vs Sugar Ray Robinson

Post by Borinken25 »

A fight that should have happened but didn't. Greatest boxer that never won a title Burley vs Robinson should have been great. Who do you guys pick in this fight?

Is this one of those peak v. peak hypotheticals, or do you have a particular date in mind? (I understand this fight was once either proposed or actually signed for 1946.)

R, the bout between Ray Robinson and Charley Burley never came about because Burley was a great risk, with little reward for Robinson. Hard to pick but the Ray Robinson I saw as a welterweight
would be my pick against Burley....But i would not place a wager on that bout...

Yes, I knew that. Ray got out of it by demanding too much money.
