I too have read `Watch My Back` by Geoff Thompson.
It was terrible. Truly was .. after reading it, the only thing Thompson had convinced me of was that he is a cock.

mis-understood karate hardman bollox .. :witzend:

Ah Kingfinn, brokers are absolute arseholes ( my mrs used to be a mortgage underwriter, they way she was spoken to by the brokers was hilarious, her coming home moaning about the arrogant no mark on the other end of the phone was a seemingly daily occurrence! ). I hope you don't follow the trend. :TU:

By trained fighter, what do you mean? Genuine question.

Wonder what condition Haye would be in after a fight with Vitali Klitschko. Unable to fight at a post fight press conference, that's for sure.
My guess is that he'd be stood on a table blaming his defeat to Vitali on a sore toe......................................................................................oh, wait a minute!!

We're really good to be fair the underwritters come to our crimbo parties and stuff.

I dont want to go on about it too much because its starting to sound like im one of those people who goes around blabbing that im a fighter and in trouble all the time which really isnt the case.

By trained i mean i've done 22 years on and off of various martial arts got a few high coloured belts in judo and karate and done a fair bit of boxing and thai boxing, my mates always say im a cage fighter when we talk about fighting techniques and what not (thats my mates who are also into fighting mainly kick boxers) but i wouldnt really say that because ive only done a bit off out and out MMA / cage fighting. In terms of levels id say i was firmly intermediate my ground game's a little rudimentary but my defence, striking and take downs are stronger. I teach basic self defence to my mates and family on request and can train by myself. P4P id beat the average man on the street as far as im concerned but then there are always natural fighters with no training and pleanty of other well trained fighters around, who could beat me and on occasions have.

Andypittcov wrote:Yes going back to the brawl which is what the thread is about I just made the observation that haye chose to fight because you were saying over and over that he had no choice which is rubbish. I've absolutely nothing against a fighters mentality, I effin love a fighters mentality their putting it on the line in front of millions of people and showing levels of fortitude and discipline that I can only admire. But we've been talking about pub fights which is not a fighters game it's a hooligans game.
As for your views on GT there all wrong mate trust me.

I didnt say that over and over again at all, he clearly had a choice - he could have ran away, stood and begged chisora not to cause trouble, avoided going to the press conference and miss his chance to try and put boente and vitali on the spot, curled up in a defensive ball, thrown adam booth infront of him, stood there and waited to see if he got a slap infront of the worlds media.

I condoned his actions and said why should he do those things, thats different. And you are correct i've only read watch my back and watched clubbed so i could be wrong about Thompson and you may well be correct, but to be fair the front cover of watch my back is a photo of GT wearing knuckle dusters so i think im right that he relishes his hard man reputation regardless of what he says, and i do hear he's a top bloke these days.

I`m untrained, but I am one fuc*ing hard fuc*er. A bloke once stared at me in a pub and instead of being intimidated I smacked the cu*t and he went down. Just one punch like a sledgehammer. Two bangs, my fist on his bonce and his bonce hitting the floor. I went outside and slapped a few other geezers for looking at my pint. :TU:

friends claims? i dont really need to convince anyone of anything and it has been mentioned in the past, although i am slightly annoyed some of my internet aquaintances dont believe me. the link to my facebook page is always on my profile feel free to add me and ill try and stick some photos training on it or something aslong as you arent going to start being wierd stalkers. Or i may just try and find some photos and post them on here as long as tonyevs agrees to pay £5 for each one

As i've said, i dont usually make a big deal about it, alot of my mates are obviously kickboxers and martial artists too so its not a big deal, although admittedly on this thread it is starting to seem that way.

Why is everyone in a flap about Haye not knocking anyone out with every punch? Seems easier to KO when your wrapped or gloved up.

It's really odd that several people on here are trying to compare what happened between Chisora and Haye with what happens down the pub on a Friday night. Part of the job of being a professional boxer is publicity. It's traditional to publicise a fight or a potential fight with aggressive posturing. This is not because they've had a pint too many or because the other boxer stared at their bird or their pint. It's because many fans expect and want to see some sort of needle between boxers who may in the future knock seven bells out of each other in the ring. So while it is normal to try to get the first punch in when someone squares up to you down the boozer, it is not normal for a boxer to throw a punch at a rival who's posturing at a press conference in the full glare of the media, because it is just a show. Aggressive posturing is very common between boxers outside of the ring. Throwing punches outside of the ring is not.

Something different was going on on Saturday though. In Haye, we had a boxer who'd been publicly humiliated and emasculated. For him, there was no future fight to sell because he'd been told point blank that his chance with the Klitschkos - the only fights he wants - was long gone. He was desperate to prove himself as a fighter and as a man. His exhilaration in the tape I've just seen makes this obvious to me: "I knocked him out" he crows after shaking Klitschko's hand. He'd released himself from the unbearable burden of humiliation he'd endured ever since the Wlad fight. Of course, Chisora is a bit crazy and unpredictable and he is hardly blameless in this situation but he's never been known to punch a fellow boxer outside of the ring.

Chisora has a history for being unpredicatbable, Haye went there to wind up Klitchko and get another fight. In my opinion allegedly should have known better and told Chisora not to leave the top table.

All three should be before the board of control

Fr ank Warren did know better & he looked like he was happy for the shenanigans to take place, although he probably didn't expect it to go so far.
