McCallister needs criticising far more than Clev
McCallister needs criticising far more than Clev
I know it's fashionable this weekend to criticise Nathan,
But there was only one fight that got my back up this weekend and that was McAlistair versus Shafikiv.
What a complete bottler, he don't deserve a crowd like the one who parted with their cash last night. He didn't do a damn thing in there, then after grinning to the crowd and smiling at his opponent he just jacked it in.
Talking about filling stadiums, having rematches - grinning like a Cheshire cat. Who is he kidding?
He might be big news in Aberdeen pretending to be a fighter, but I certainly hope not to see him on my tv screen again.

i know lee and hes a really nice kid but i was shocked how he went out last night, im not gunna hammer him too much because its the boxers union and all that, but what i will say is a sore hands lasts a few days but quitting will stay with you for much much longer, he knew he was gunna get taken out and bailed out when the going got tough, its the european title for gods sake, if you have to go out on your back then thats what you do, i know its easy for me to say wathing on t.v but if i have 3000 friends and family watching me in the biggest fight to come to my home town ever im gunna keep fighting till there is nothing at all left or im knocked out cold and thats a fact, and i like lee so the people who dont are gunna have a field day

Nail on the head Curtis.
He comes across as a decent enough fella, but that's put to one side when the bell rings, especially when the lion's share of your hometown have turned out to see you at least give it your very best.

I have to agree, what a total lack of a performance. He did virtually nothing in there. It looked like the occassion was too much for him, but he threw nothing and then came up with the hand story.
The fans should feel gutted by that showing. Rematch? Who would want to see that again?

I didn't see the fight, but I noticed that the scores were close at the time of the stoppage.
Am I right in thinking that the action wasn't competitive and it was a case of hometown judging?

Londonirish - it was a mickey take. He didnt throw a punch in anger He said his hand a gone with a look at his brother, his trainer (Scott Harrison's dad) looked puzzled. Then at the end, without knowing he banged his gloves together if I remember !
Ringside interview he then says at least he gave the fans a good night of action (lol) and says maybe he will switch to TV presenting but will 'keep on fighting, for now' and then says if he gives me the rematch I'll get more money in Russia, and a free holiday, all the while laughing and grinning as the place emptied out with disgruntled boxing fans.
People massacred Ortiz and Alexander for quitting, but they were cut open and floored - he didn't have a graze and made them pair look like Chuck Wepner.

The worst thing was his interview afterwards. Not good.

Agree with all that. Can't believe he was asking for a rematch...What would be the point?

Thanks G0mez.... Same as what my trainer had said, he was a second in the Denis corner said he had started slower then normal but then done as he Pleased...
If you are in a fight and give 100% and lose as least you know you got beat by the Better fella and will be able to sleep at night....

To be honest I don't know why people are surprised. He might be a nice lad, but he regularly stinks the place out and I know it's an old cliche but I wouldn't open the curtains if he was fighting in my garden. I think it says a lot for Aberdeen that he is classed as entertainment. I think his attitude in and out of the ring stinks.
Re: McCallister needs criticising far more than Clev
I think people were aware of that to be honest, and wouldn't have been surprised to see him stink it out. I don't blame Aberdeen for getting behind their man, which they do impressively all things considered. Its not their fault he's not Ray Leonard.winkveron wrote:To be honest I don't know why people are surprised. However, I didn't expect him to bottle it in front of his fans, laugh and smirk about it, and then in all seriousness suggest he might get a rematch. That did surprise me.

He's completely deluded if he thought he boxed well and if he deserves a rematch. All a rematch would be would be a very easy payday for Shafikov. It was a very dissappionting ending but not a real suprise. His opposition recently had been pretty dire it was a massive step up. Alot was expected they love him up in the North East but he's found his level.

grinning away against murray........when it started getting tough stayed down from a body shot

As I watched the interview with McCallister my jaw was dropping lower and lower. By the time he had finished I was in a state of shock at what I had just heard. It seemed like a guy living in fantasy land who was not taking the game seriously.
I am sure he regrets a lot of that interview now. I never get a fair crack? Give a rest mate.

Have to agree with the general opinion. I thought he had bottled it in the sixth when he just stood there, flat footed, no movement like he couldn't be arsed or he had spat his dummy out.
Complete joke especially in front of all them people who had shelled out to be there for him.

Re: McCallister needs criticising far more than Clev
Definitely a total bottle job. To be fair to the lad he was out of his depth, same as in the John Murray fight. they've done well to build him up a bit but the guy is so limited it's untrue. Just a very very average boxer who they guided well to the Commonwealth belt and that's his best level, won't ever win the British so Euro was defo a big step up and big gamble that didn't pay off at all.
