Roberto Duran vs Floyd Mayweather jr ( at 135 lbs)

Post by ELA »

Any thoughts,

Keep in mind, at 135 lbs, Duran was at his best!

Duran walks through Mayweather's punches and punishes him. I think it'd play out a bit like Duran vs Leonard 1. Duran might even score a KO or TKO.
Duran is no Gatti. No offense to Gatti's fans.

Mayweather was running away from Castillo in the last half of the first fight. Against Duran? Pretty Boy would either fight and get his clock cleaned or run for survival and still get hit enough to lose. Duran could cut off a ring nicely and it wouldn't be pretty...pardon the pun.

Mayweather is special no doubt, but a 135 pound Duran was too.Pounding the body and not easy to hit himself,Duran would come on down the stretch.Duran by close decision or late stoppage.

i think pbf is not seeing alot of love here.. hes never lost and hes being called the best p4p fighter in the game... gatti is a good season vet, and pbf made him look like a club fighter, i think the pbf-duran fight would be a good one.... if duran got annoyed with leonard, then he would have a heart attack over floyd... i think if they fought 3 times it would be a 2-1 split either way. i think it depends on how bad mayweather wants it

Floyd could still achieve things which might yet change our minds. Until his career is over and we can look back we can't be sure but in the meantime I can't see many betting against Duran by hard fought UD

I'd have to go with Duran at 135 - Simply too strong (and mean) - He'd win by DEC or late TKO -

Do you think that Floyd is better than Leonard?

At lightweight Duran wins, but Floyd could get through 12 or 15 and just lose a decision if he chose to be cute.

If he stood and fought, then I'm afraid it wouldnt go the distance. Because Duran would take 3 to give 1 and not be bothered by Floyd's power, and in that scenario there is no doubt that Roberto sends Floyd into the Void.

Mayweather has his moments but Duran wins by mid-to-late rounds TKO.
