Marciano only called out opponents who had already signed for fights in the face of other available challengers. And in other weeks, he didn't offer anyone a title shot - he stayed quiet until all fights were signed then fought a CPU.
Big difference there methinks.
BoxBuzz wrote:However: I believe that some of the managers of available opponents have put out the message that their man "will face anyone".
The only elligible challengers remaining for the unified titles are, from the above list:
SOCKDOLAGER - HARRY WILLS
SWEET P - GEORGE FOREMAN

And neither of these Managers have made open challenges as of yet for this week.
BoxBuzz wrote:If so the highest ranked opponent of that pool will be chosen and slated for the championship shot.
Deadendgeneration wrote:Hence the challenges set, of the opponents ranked by both organisations, Wills is ranked 2 and 3, Foreman 3 and 4. Fraizer is also ranked by both bodies but has a fight signed. If neither fighter wants it then perhaps Fraizer's opponent could be paid some step aside money.
This complicates matters. As such, I will PM both Managers and the first one to accept the title shot will get it.
If neither step up, Frazier will be offered it - if he declines. Jeffries will not defend his titles this week but he will keep them.

Crease, let me be clear.

IF a potential challenger's manager sets up a fight before seeing if they can be accepted as a challenger to the champion, this will be considered quite alright. It may well be that they would like to duck the champion quietly and without embarrassing fan fare. It is the responsibility of those managing such fighters to be both awake and aware of their surroundings. A pulse is always helpful within the art of negotiation.

I was going to run some of these "set" fights tonight... However based on this I will be patient until my next opportunity.

There is also no problem with your advocacy to "herd the cats", but there will be no consequence for bad, flighty or "strategery styled" management. lol

Let's wait and see what happens... But it will be noted that you made every attempt to defend your titles.
Zombie Joe will fight for them. :box:
I think Joe is ranked by both organisations so why not. Wills and Foreman seem to be too scared.

Well hopefully when he's done with that he can accept that he missed a title shot. :P
.......except if he was unaware, though I can't personally quite accept that he was unaware, however he could have been, in which case I would have to accept that this would be the exception to what I believe should be the standard assumption.

Vitali Klitschko has not yet fought his idol Max Schmeling. Care to bring it on?

Just for the record, if Liston comes out of his next (tough) fight a winner, he needs Marciano on his resume. Having faced all others, Holyfield, Ali, Tyson, Dempsey, Foreman, Lewis, Jackson, Louis etc...preferably for a Title shot.

OK..I'm going to try to run these tonight. It appears that Harry Wills will fight Jeffries? I believe that was Crease's hope. Playing cupid has both it's rewards and it's challenges I suppose.

This will leave some confusion on behalf of some, and may leave some managers dazed and confused. I or Crease will attempt to sort through the various communications and come as close to the wishes that have been expressed as humanly possible.

The only wish that I have it that the Champions defend their titles every week, that is all.
Oh, and Joe Frazier fights Jeffries for the unified titles...

It's rather simple to understand... Frazier is a top 10 ranked contender for both unified titles. But at the time of my "elligiblity posts" (if you like) he was not available as he had signed to fight Quarry.
After dropping the Quarry fight he is available again.

Simples.

Gentlemen we are fast approaching the deadline for this weeks fight card. With your approval I will match up the remaining handful - allowing rankings to dictate the pairings.
:TU:

SWEET P VS SOCKDOLAGER
GEORGE FOREMAN VS HARRY WILLS

FRILLA VS BOXBUZZ
VITALI KLITSCHKO VS JAMES CORBETT

BIGJUICYHOG VS THE END
JERRY QUARRY VS IKE IBEAUCHI

And so it is written, so shall it be.
