The very definition of a paper champion.

I hope Boxing News slaughter this.

Just so they can call it a unification fight.

Joke.

It's bad enough they've forced the rematch, I wanted to see a rematch but the WBA shouldn't be stripping Peterson.
Unifying a title is only one way to become the Super Champion. (Not that they actually have set rules with this shít!)

Correct, Slapbang - the Felix Sturm, Mikkel Kessler (recent) situation shows they just make up the rules as they go along and they make it up for the interim title..... as shown when they ignored the WBA Interim champion when they announced a vacant WBA ordinary Super Middleweight title fight.

So are both the IBF and WBA Championships on the line?

Khan was cheated not defeated in the first fight, so I agree with him being given his title back.

WBA titles were handed out when you unified a division OR run up 5 defences OR when the WBA decided to give you one...like in this case. They also had a very short lived "unified champion" (as their website described it) from when Gamboa beat Salido, when Gamboa was stripped by the IBF the WBA followed suit as he was "no longer a unified champion".

Who cheated him? It certainly wasn't Peterson, and he's the one being punished.
The man in the hat cheated Khan. Peterson can get his title back in May.

I wonder if the WBA will make a Super-duper Champion if someone defends the title that is unified with another title/other titles for more than 5 defences.

This is a disgrace. Shame on the WBA and shame on Khan for accepting the title. I actually think he's talented fighter but he got beat. I had him losing even without the point deductions and I've watched the fight twice. He was lucky to get an immediate rematch. Many losing fighters have to wait years to get another shot. That's what all the whining was for, to force the governing bodies hands. The man in the hat, the time it took to count, the point deductions etc had nothing to do with Peterson. Khan was still losing as he fought the wrong fight.

Everybody seems to have missed the point... fact is by his whining and complaining he's tarnished Peterson's achievement. And as champion it should have been Peterson's decision who he fought next not Khans.

The only way this nonsense ends is when people stop talking about the stupidity of the titles. But with threads being created on the subject and debates ensuing over the relative merits of various title awarding organisations, the ridiculous situation will perpetuate. There are barely any instances across all governing bodies and across all weights where the current holder stems from a lineage that is beyond dispute.

Peterson v Khan II is a fine fight that will crown the best at 140, given that Bradley is stepping up to 147. It means diddly squat to me which arbitrary group of over-paid-and-over-fine-dined-leeches-in-suits have deemed the fight worthy of their trinket.

Khan will most likely win the rematch!

So is it worth attracting all the jaundiced negative publicity inside boxing for this? Or is this the final brick in the wall for Team Khan's "well why would they have done that if something wasnt going on" campaign that they have been feeding to Khan's army of "non-boxing fan" fans.

The man in the hat didn't alter the bout's outcome.

From Dan Rafael Twitter:
"I checked w/ @GilberticoWBA. He says WBA hasn't given @AmirKingKhan a super world title & that he can get it back by beating @kingpete26."

Khan making a comlete clown of himself again?
WBA backpeadling?
Hat Man hacked Khan's Twitter?

What I reckon happened was:
Khan in Panama is presented with belt for being Super champion (which he was made after beating Judah). He presumes this means they are giving him the title. He makes a ridiculous tweet.

Gilberto Mendoza is saying that Dan Rayfeels version is the truth. Mendoza also replied to a DM I sent him to say he hasnt stripped Lamont or reinstated Amir.

Has anyone got a soft towel to wipe the egg off that collective mushes of Team Khant

To cut Khan a little bit of slack -It would seem the WBA boss is the cause of all this.

The fact he retweeted As If (Amir's manager) tweet thanking him for making Khan the super chumpion only 2 days before then retweeting Rafeel's tweet.

I reckon he buckled and back tracked.

No Gomez, Khan tweeted about this well before Asif's tweet.

p.s. Little Asif "unfollowed" and "blocked" me on twitter that very day.

Not into Twitter, but doesn't the fact that Gilberto retweeted a statement from ASIF highlights that at the time it was correct.

Does it really matter when Khan said the news?

As I said not into twitter - it seems to me that the WBA bottled their decision - and its left Khan with egg on face.
