I just thought that since it was the final week of the season, and Schmeling was the only one looking for the fight for at least 24 hours, the Commish might allow him to fight for all the belts.

I don't want THAT or THOSE fighters ignored IF they have the will, want and desire. Shouldn't they be heard from within the context of this discussion?

The fighters that are ranked by both the WBA and IBF are:
George Foreman and Jack Johnson that is all. So if you want to give them presidence, Johnson has already called twice for the fight.

Buzz had his own way when I conceded to make last weeks defeated fighters elligible when others were more worthy. SO he can concede that Johnson is elligible and willing and worthy and etc...

Here is how I see it at this point. You have determined that the two genuinely qualified candidates are Jack and George.

If Jack actually availed himself first, then I would agree that he is the man.

I nuanced the rules because I thought we needed to open up the options due to lack of interest.

But Jack and George have legitimate claim and the first to make their intent known should be acceptable.

I would like to hear from the champion's manager though......I would expect that he agrees, but would want to listen to their side if they wish to appeal this decision.

Otherwise make it so.

I was only saying that Schmeling challenged Frazier for the fight for a full day before anyone else said anything, so I thought that maybe there would be "special circumstances" given the fact that he was ranked for one and not the other and it is the last week of the season. Johnson was next to challenge, but was "late to the party" IMO. I understand the rules and am willing to abide by them. It's either Schmeling or Johnson, Frazier runs from no man, he just eats their brains.

Could be the potential of a massive unification this week. Hold tight.

However if you win week 41 (the grand unification bout) we'll all be sure to downplay it's significance.
