Post by P4P#1 »

Just seen this, How does this work when they both have other fights lined up? Is it If they both come through as winners?

Yeah just got on finally to check, Slap me if im wrong but i thought a mandatory had to be against the number 1 contender unless they was injured or unable to fight for some other reason, Would it not just be a voluntary defence with no purse bid required? Why wouldnt they wait to see if Stieglitz came through against kessler?which i cant see happening tbh.

Maybe Kessler is either going after the WBC belt vacated by Ward or he is injured again. Abraham will probably fight the Stieglitz/Groves winner.

It's the highest ranked opponent who wants the fight, if that makes sense. That guy will usually be moved to the number 1 spot anyway in a lot of cases. The WBO don't tend to bother with eliminators, I certainly can't remember any. The others seem to love eliminators.

Would rather see him fight the winner of Abraham/Wilczewski.

This won't happen for sure. Unless Kessler v Stieglitz is off and it hasn't yet hit the press, this will not happen. If Kessler were to beat Stieglitz there would have to be a completely new bidding process, so it's lunacy.

Too soon for Groves I feel, Stieglitz is the poorest of the Super Middleweight world champions, but I feel he is underated a tad by many people.

I consider their interim as an eliminator. Occasional they do eliminators. Herbie Hide, declined a couple.

I think Groves will do a number on Kenny. Similar to the Smith fight.

I think Kenny might cause an upset.

Maybe. I think Groves has moved on considerably since the first fight.

People were saying Smith could cause an upset and he got blown away.
Kenny is a decent fighter but seems to be living off giving Groves a hard time in their first fight.

Not many people fancied smith over groves, I just think Anderson having a proper training camp this time could really make this a 50/50 fight, groves still lacks simple defensive skills and I believe Kenny is more then capable of exploiting them, I think it will be a cracking fight !
