Plus Burns v Moses, Appleby v Ormond, should be a good nights boxing.

They picked it up last minute on the cheap. This channel needs to be advertising fights in advance but with the guys in charge it probably has to pay up front!

Good news its on though. We mute Bunce as he now starting to get on my nervous.

Lopez 125.75 Salido 126 but that doesn't mean a 'fat' lot these days it seems In the first fight apparently Lopez came in at 144 on the night after weighing in at 125 the day before :o blamed his chef/exwife

Lopez is obviously where the smart money goes but he's one of these modern "stars" created by being two weight divisions bigger than the poor schmucks normally in front of him. He's very powerful, got a great right hook, but he only works off exchanges, which'd be okay, except he fights like he is contractually obliged to never ever move his head. In his own way, & I know it's going to sound strange, but he's very one-dimensional.

If Salido was a bit younger/fresher (& hadn't been bounced off the canvas like a basketball by a Filipino journeyman in his last fight), I'd pick him unequivocally to do the do again; he's the kind of rampaging no-nonsense hardcase you need more than natural advantages to beat up.

However, he was bounced off the canvas like a basketball in his last fight by a Filipino journeyman, so I have no idea whether the old boy can pull it out again. I hope he can.

Oh yeah: Jhonny Gonzalez KO6 JuanMa Lopez. Any day of the week & twice on Sundays. For real, yo.

I've not seen much of Jhonny Gonzalez Datsue I must search some out. I think we can be safe in the assumption it wont go to the scorecards tonight! Lopez doesn't do judges often, he's been twelve once that was Mtgwa

A good fight but Lopez looked pretty iffy from the start really, nice right hook from Lopez though. Salido did a proper job on him all in all.

Mikey Garcia didn't even have to get out of second gear against Concepcion

Very good fight. Salido was relentless and the finishing punches were beautiful. The stoppage was spot on too despite Lopez's initial reaction.

They were concussive punches that smashed Lopez to the ground, Salido's punches were like homing missiles locked onto Lopez's head.

That was some round the 9th, felt sorry for Lopez piling forward but obviously running on empty. Those right hands Salido was winging over looked like they were going to finish him at some point - but Lopez nearly pulled off a miracle win with that shock know down in the 5th - Salido looked really hurt but the bell came to his rescue.

very good stoppage, Lopez would of been badly knocked out if he was allowed to continue. The ref did well all fight i thought.

great fight though, Salido just looks to have Lopez's number. A fight against Chris John to sort out who's number 1 would be good.

I can't see it that way, Salido can be outboxed and John is awkward and hard to hit cleanly with more than one punch at a time. I'd expect him to frustrate Salido over the 12 rounds.

The only time Salido genuinely got outboxed was against Gamboa, a fight he took at short notice.

Chris John is the epitome of making hay while the sun shines, he's totally living off that win over JMM all those years ago. The guy's eeking out a living outpointing bums. He is awful to watch, just circling around and flicking out that jab and not committing to anything. Jaurez is no puncher and slow as hell but he had him out twice.

Salido is highly effective at cutting off the ring, something that Juarez couldn't do if you gave him 10 goes at fighting John.

Yep John isn't fun to watch, but he's effective. it's probably never going to happen anyway, as there are more lucritive fights out there for Salido. They might look at the winner of Jhonny Gonzalez v Elio Rojas.
