Beat me to it...just seen it tweeted by Tris Dixon.

Was going to turn up for this one too. I hope that whatever it is it's not going to keep George out too long.

hm on the same day that they announce:

Article Link - http://www.BS.com/?m=show&opt= ... z1ov5aMQmI

By Rick Reeno

BS.com has been informed that SES Boxing, who promote WBO super middleweight champion Robert Stieglitz (41-2, 23KOs), secured the rights to the mandatory defense against British titleholder George Groves (14-0, 11KOs). The WBO held a purse bid earlier today in Budapest, Hungary. Reportedly SES submitted "around $800,000."

Stieglitz was scheduled to defend his title against Mikkel Kessler on April 14th in Coppenhagen, but BS broke the news earlier today that Kessler is still dealing with a right hand injury and withdrew from the contest . Kessler will return on May 19th against a new opponent.

Groves has a fight scheduled on Friday night in Wembley, as he faces dangerous puncher Kenny Anderson (15-1, 11KOs) in a rematch.

Surely you are not suggesting that this was a carefully orchestrated injury (my guess is back) that will 'miracously' heal itself in time for the WBO shot. That never happens

Apparently the whole card is now off so that generally means you will get a refund, on the tickets at least.

Do we think this re-arranged fight will happen before the WBO fight or?

I wonder how ticket sales were going for this fight?

Feel bad for Anderson .... and any lads who had paid out dosh for the fight and accomadation

But what an oppurtunity for Groves, can anybody begrudge him a shot at a belt? I think its a tough fight and maybe a bit early but back him to win it if it happens...

I don't like the timing of this after Robert Stieglitz purse bid result was published. Maybe Groves had a small injury and his team didn't want to risk it for a nice pay day....Gutted for the other fighters and paying public.

Absolute disgrace, if in was offered a world title fight for my fighter I'd refuse it so he could fight someone he's already beaten.

Can't the show go on with Anderson v tba, loads of good undercard action, I've said all along groves knows anderson is a HUGE risk this time around. Just don't see why the whole show must be scrapped.

Feel sorry for the chaps who have shelled out. Hopefully you booked your rooms with the option of free cancellation ( always worth doing ) and you get a refund for the scrapped show.

Great opportunity for Groves though. Perhaps a tad early. Not saying he cannot win this fight it's what comes with it ( title holder, be expected to fight a certain level of fighter etc )

Extremely disappointing. Groves should be stripped if he boxes anyone else within the next 2 months. Or Anderson should box A N other for the vacant title on Saturday. This is what screws the sport.

Strong thoughts. Maree feels George's injury is above board, but he also maintains that if Groves-Anderson is ditched then it could harm George's rep.

Pragmatic viewpoint: Groves fights Stieglitz and Anderson gets lost in the rush to celebrate another British world champion.
you seen the pictures of kenny today that are kicking about he looks in some shape, what is the supposed injury?
