Re: Groves-Anderson postponed
Annoying timing for people with tickets, hotels booked etc and very bad luck for Team Anderson and all other fighters on the bill but Kenny Anderson was a serious banana skin if a world title shot came the way of most domestic fighters I reckon they'd do the same thing.
(Kessler's not injured, he can't make the weight and is going to move up according to Bunce?)
I thought Jeff Thomas was supposed to be fighting Sam Webb but I read now it was supposed to be Lee Purdy

Re: Groves-Anderson postponed
Not sure anyone can slate Groves if he takes the Stieglitz fight instead.
Who is the better fighter out of the two possible Groves opponents? Which is the bigger fight?
Answer those questions honestly and you will see why he would rather fight Stieglitz.

Gutted for Anderson.
Not quite sure wether to hate on Groves or not, he's letting down so many people here, but he's almost certainly being guided by you know who. If he is to get Stieglitz next for the WBO title its a winnable fight for him. Hard to blame the lad as if he fought Anderson this weekend and suffered any kind of cut/injury his chance could be scuppered.

Agreed with what you said!MachoMan09 wrote:If Maree said anything other than that he believes George's injury is legit, he'd burn his bridges with Warren. So what he says in public about this doesn't carry any weight for me.
Those saying "you can't blame George, this is a great opportunity for him.." etc are effectively saying "yeah, he's bullshitting about being injured, effing over a fellow pro and God knows how many boxing fans, but I'm good with it". I don't get that mentality. I liked the kid till today and have paid to watch him box, I won't do in the future.

It's boxing, strike when you have the chance. He could suffer a long term injury in the ring against anyone, fall over, clash of heads etc etc.
Then what?
Sure it sucks but unfortunately it's part of the sport. Does anyone think Anderson would do anything but the same if it were him being lined up for a shot at a world title?

Yep. He looked well up for it.ALI wrote:Gutted for Anderson..
Feel for leforge too, having bought ringsides and a hotel.

I also blame the sanctioning body. Why couldn't it have held off r
the purse bids until after the Groves-Anderson fight?

@machoman agree. My first reaction was that i was pissed because i couldn't put a wager on. But when hearing about people . It is one of the reasons why the few shows I have been to have been lastminute.com events. I'm talking, the afternoon of the fight.

Kessler may be moving up to fight Cloud
Re: Groves-Anderson postponed
If Groves was so offended he should have pulled out of the rematch long before. I'm with Macho on this. People would think far differently if it was their own hard earned cash.Final round wrote::idea: "Fighter ditches dangerous domestic defence at the last minute in exchange for unexpected world title shot" :idea:MachoMan09 wrote:If Maree said anything other than that he believes George's injury is legit, he'd burn his bridges with Warren. It is completely gutting for all the fans (LeForge bad luck) who've bought tickets, hotel travel etc but talking about a effing over a 'fellow pro' in Kenny Anderson who's not shown any respect to George at any time who was ready to try and destroy him and ruin his dreams on Friday night. I doubt Groves will have any sleepless nights about him.

Eh it all happened in the last 24 hours, why would he pull out earlier?
Re: Groves-Anderson postponed
Do you think Boxers have it in their contracts that their promoter can force them to make out their injured, in order for them to pull a show due to a lack of ticket sales?
Obviously not saying that this is the case here?

This is a gutter, I've been bigging this fight up to people in work etc, trying to get them into it and now its off..... shocking
Hope Anderson gets paid at least.

Re: Groves-Anderson postponed
I dont see why he just didnt relinquish the commonwealth and let anderson fight for that.
Re: Groves-Anderson postponed
I think Team Groves are indisputably wrong here. They signed binding legal contracts to fight anderson who has trained, sparred and sacrificed to get ready. Then they get a better offer and dump the deal and crap all over fans who have shelled out for the fight.
It's desperately poor form and Team Groves have gone down dramatically in my estimation.

People pull out of fights all the time. Its a bitch for Anderson but thats boxing. Id rather he pull out than fight from sum bad back like nicky cook. And didnt Haye get a back injury so he could fight Valuev instead of Klit?

Wlad pulled out with a back injury the week he was supposed to fight Chisora. Wlad went on to fight Haye instead. It turned out Steward put the kibosh on the Chisora fight.
Re: Groves-Anderson postponed
It's not just Kenny missing out here what about all the undercard fighters i'm sure they were relying on the paycheck an some good exposure. Also I bet chunkys jealous thinking he had overtaken Groves with his euro title but while he's in limbo Groves has a great chance at winning a world title. Anyone think if Groves wins FW will match them both or will he just feed him the usual bums for a couple of years?

Re: Groves-Anderson postponed
Just heard Kevin Marees interview on Bunceys show, first time ive heard him talk and soounds like top bloke. Apparently Groves has got a world title date already. If Groves wins the title the only way he can go is DeGale and a bunch of donkey punch bags cos he is several years away from fighting the best super-middleweights.
