Greg, the former boxer I was thinking about in connection with The Untouchables was Chuck Hicks:

He was on the first season, and played the part of "Kane."

WBO: Juanma already suspended

By Rey Colón -The Sport Press

WBO President Francisco ‘Paco’ Valcarcel says former featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez is already suspended after his strong statements against referee Roberto Ramirez, whom he accused of being a gambler. “At the moment he is suspended for one year. In five days we are giving him the opportunity to convince us otherwise…and we did take the apology into consideration.” He added that Lopez’s unsportsmanlike conduct “cannot be tolerated.”

Paul, I remember that night well. Norm had a hard time pulling that guy off Thomas, the guy was a good size guy and Norm was a small guy. The cops jumped in the ring and took the guy away in cuffs. Just another nite in boxing L.A... :yay: :OhYes:

The Golden Age of Los Angeles boxing for sure, and I was lucky to had been there to see it all. I didn't read about it or had some body tell me about it, I seen it and I lived it... :yay: ....Yes, Paul, Connie and I were ringside for the Golden Boy last fight..It was sad in a way but, then again it was not, Art had a great run, he fought them all, made lots of money, played with most Hollywood starlets of the time...No, can't feel bad for Art at all.... :TU:

I've known Chuck Hicks for nearly thirty years. He was a stuntman by trade in the film business, and Don Fraser and I see his wife on occasion at a local restaurant we regularly frequent. Don and I were discussing Hicks' career a couple months ago, and a couple weeks ago saw his wife at jazz club in Burbank. She is a singer. However, Abel Fernandez was the only boxer of note to appear in the TV series. Chuck is best known in town as "Fall Guy", but he played some minor rolls as well. He's been retired for quite awhile. Keep up the great information, Tom. I'll check in on occasion and when you stumble over West Coast facts, I'll pick up your slack.
