Re: Kell Brook is better than Saul Alvarez
As much as I love Kell, I would take Canelo to win if they faced each other.
It would have o be catchweight because no way is Ginner getting down to Welterweight.
Maybe that's Matthew's way of making himself feel better about his own performance.

Re: Kell Brook is better than Saul Alvarez
have to agree with that mate, kell is getting there but i believe Alvarez beats him all day at the moment.
Re: Kell Brook is better than Saul Alvarez
Brook is a better fighter than Alvarez, but H2H Alvarez would probably win
Re: Kell Brook is better than Saul Alvarez
In fairness brook fought better than alvarez did in their respective fights with hatton i think thats what he meant .

Hatton certainly had more 'success' hitting the target against Alvarez, from what lI remember not that he had the fire power to capitilise. Brook's style seemed to keep him off kilter the whole fight.

Brook fans said Alvarez had a mare of a camp for the Hatton fight, so keeping that in mind Brook did no better or worse in my opinion.

Re: Kell Brook is better than Saul Alvarez
He did mate.
Prepared poorly, took a lot for granted, came in over weight, had personal problems with "Miss Mexico" etc the list is endless.
De Lay Hoya actually said that his poor showing against Hatton would be the making of him, because it brought the young lad down to earth with a bang.
Fast forward to Rhodes fight, 8 weeks traing camp in big bear, no distractions and a tough regime.
That's why I've always said you cannot compare the two fights.
Alvarez was awesome against Rhodes.
I am a huge Brook fan but even the most optimistic of fans would not give him a chance against Alverez right now.

26, saw Ryan whilst queing at the box office for my tickets. He looks pretty light on his feet for a man with a back injury :)

Re: Kell Brook is better than Saul Alvarez
He lost two and a half weeks of training due to the injury, which was the reason for the postponement.
It is solely due to broadcasting dates that the postponement is until June.
He's back in the gym and can't wait for the fight.

I know mate, just made me chuckle seeing him. I'll be going to the re-scheduled fight.
Re: Kell Brook is better than Saul Alvarez
Alvarez is so much more proven AND he is bigger. I've got to favour Alvarez, head-to-head. I do think Brook is doing really good job so far, though. Hopefully he continues to improve and becomes a good World champ.

Re: Kell Brook is better than Saul Alvarez
nice one, I'll see if I can get my bro up for that one too.
Re: Kell Brook is better than Saul Alvarez
I believe hatton put up a better fight against Alvarez, I still believe brook will struggle at world level, but wish him the best.
Re: Kell Brook is better than Saul Alvarez
am i the only one to be worried about brooks power, hatton should have been put to sleep by round 8,the gulf in ability was massive,it could be his achilles heel at world level??,no doubt the lads got everything else
Re: Kell Brook is better than Saul Alvarez
You might be right...I just think Hatton is incredibly tough. Not just that but wily too. He was tying Brook up right from the start.tommo100 wrote:am i the only one to be worried about brooks power, hatton should have been put to sleep by round 8,the gulf in ability was massive,it could be his achilles heel at world level??,no doubt the lads got everything else
Re: Kell Brook is better than Saul Alvarez
Brook had Hatton in trouble, and I don't remember Alvarez having the same kind of impact. Brook must have decent power. He looked very strong against Hatton, imo.tommo100 wrote:am i the only one to be worried about brooks power, hatton should have been put to sleep by round 8,the gulf in ability was massive,it could be his achilles heel at world level??,no doubt the lads got everything else
Since 2008 Brook has stopped every one of his opponents except N'dou and Matton. I don't think that can be criticised so much.

Re: Kell Brook is better than Saul Alvarez
Alvarez was AWESOME against a WASHED up Rhodes,Hatton got through 12 rounds with Alverez.Alverez isnt the big deal he has been hyped up to be.Rhodes looked awful in his return fight at the Magna Center and bottled it against RABCHENKO.twenty six wrote:He did mate.

26, Ryans your mate, dont try to soften the blow of him throwing away his last chance by saying Alverez was awesome please. After watching the fight Brook v Hatton the reason Matthew got through is because he had heart.Even when his nose was broken in the first he fought his heart out until the end, everytime Brook had him nearly finished, he came back.Thats why Hatton got through with Alverez so dont try discrediting his performance by stating out of the ring problems for Alverez.
I think someone predicted on here, weeks before the Rabchenko fight that Rhodes would pull out and he did.

Re: Kell Brook is better than Saul Alvarez
Easy tiger, you're accusing a fighter of bottling when the fight is ON ?
Regarding Alvarez and the lead up to the Hatton fight, ask Matthew's own people !
I've never discredited Matthew's performance against Alvarez, he took some hard shots and stayed in there.
All I've said is you cannot compare the two fights.
Did Avarez fail to make the weight for the Hatton fight ?
Did he have to go away initially and try and shed the weight ?
Did he fail miserably to do so ?
Did the fight only take place because Matthews camp agreed to go ahead subject to financial penalties against Alvarez ?
Facts are facts.
Alvarez prepared piss poorly for the Hatton fight.

Re: Kell Brook is better than Saul Alvarez
aside from the weight thing you could tell by his demeanor in he ring that he clearly expected to blow Hatton away fast. It's the only fight I've seen of his that actually wasn't a quick blowout so I don't know if it really is unusual for him or not but, he'd drop his hands and give Hatton dirty looks when Hatton hit him, he was getting pissed off that Hatton was still in thereafter he'd caught him a few times.
As I say I haven't seen too much of him but it did appear that his head wasn't in the right place (I only watched the fight on youtube a few days ago btw).

Surely that`s the point. Many fighters stop the less talented opponents, but when they step up they no longer have the power we thought they had when they were knocking over journeymen.
Froch is an example of this, so is Maidana. They obviously still hit as hard, but the opponent taking the punches is of a far higher calibre.
Brook certainly has power, but I don`t think he will be a KO artist at the highest levels.

Well time will tell mate.
However, you don't have to be a KO artist to be a World Champion.
Sure, it helps, but Brook is a very talented young man.

Very true, as Mayweather and Ray Leanord have proven.twenty six wrote:Well time will tell mate.

I rate Brook highly, but let`s be honest he is in a tough division and has not fought anybody yet who has taken the fight to him. Hatton tried, but Hatton does not have power or the skills to trouble a top class fighter.
Brook looks very good, but until he has fought someone at a higher level than Hatton it difficult to gauge just how good he actually is.
