WBO refuses to sanction Cleverly v Krasniqi
Re: WBO refuses to sanction Cleverly v Krasniqi
shouldnt be fighting anyways but am suprised by that especially with the wbo who arent really picky
Re: WBO refuses to sanction Cleverly v Krasniqi
Cleverly seems to talk more rubbish than most British fighters. Isn't he supposed to be clever?Nathan Cleverly wrote:“The better the opponents the better I perform and Krasniqi will bring out the best in me."
Re: WBO refuses to sanction Cleverly v Krasniqi
WELL DONE ABOUT TIME THIS HAPPENED

Re: WBO refuses to sanction Cleverly v Krasniqi
If they want him to fight his mandatory next, shouldn't they have called for purse bids and mentioned who his mandatory challenger is?
Re: WBO refuses to sanction Cleverly v Krasniqi
sounds like Cleverly is content being a paper champion. It really annoys me when FW who is capable of match making any fight decides to just pad out fighters records for donkeys years then cashes in on a few big fights at the end of their careers.
Brook was going absolutley nowhere, mitchell had silly amounts of fights at european level, murray did the same.

Re: WBO refuses to sanction Cleverly v Krasniqi
I followed Cleverley alot when he was on the up, but I've only watched his fights with Murat and Bomber lately. Not remotely interested if this gets sanctioned or not, I've almost had enough of him already. Fwank obviously thinks he's shite, so it's not going to get much better

Re: WBO refuses to sanction Cleverly v Krasniqi
I genuinely wanted to hear Bunce defend the match up
Re: WBO refuses to sanction Cleverly v Krasniqi
about time the WBO got a bit more strict, what happened to people of the level of Dawson/Hopkins
Re: WBO refuses to sanction Cleverly v Krasniqi
WBO mmm.
They have that rising superstar Chauncy Welliver ranked number 7 in the world at heavyweight as an example !!! He's their 'New Zealand' international champion . Incidentally ,the WBO number 1 challenger to Cleverley is another bum.
But its all about making money and that means you and I need to stump up for this nonsense.

Re: WBO refuses to sanction Cleverly v Krasniqi
Looks like Nathan Cleverly is trying to follow in the footsteps on his fellow Welsh countryman Joe Calzaghe. Defending the WBO title against a bunch of bums for the next 10 years.
I guess allegedly isn't as close to the WBO as he once was. This fight would have been sanctioned going back a couple of years ago.
The last guy Nathan Cleverly defended the WBO title against wasn't even a full time boxer. One of the commentators said he boxes around his work schedule and I think was trained by his own dad?

Re: WBO refuses to sanction Cleverly v Krasniqi
Glad this has happened, Cleverly's career is definitely starting to resemble the same sort of pathway as the Calzaghe/Hatton dark years. I mean, who has he REALLY fought, other than Murat? No disrespect to Bellew but he's never proved himself (yet) above British level and gets a WBO world title shot. Cleverly is becoming the absolute definition of a paper champion with these crap defences. I have no interest in these sorts of fights whatsoever, until boxing matches the best vs the best consistently it will never catch up with UFC/other sports in general.
Re: WBO refuses to sanction Cleverly v Krasniqi
W@rren wanted this matchup winner to fight the winner of Hopkins - Dawson, in the summer.
Just how ridiculus and BS induced can one be? The guy cannot match Nathan with anyone half decent, Tony B apart, and he talks & talks & talks about a Hopkins / Dawson matchup.....Thing is, some actually believe him, not least of all Nathan and his Dad.

Re: WBO refuses to sanction Cleverly v Krasniqi
great news! clev may actually get a chance to fight a top 10 fighter in Dmitry Sukhotsky. will be worth watching
Re: WBO refuses to sanction Cleverly v Krasniqi
All I can say is that the WBO are obviously not proper boxing fans.
Re: WBO refuses to sanction Cleverly v Krasniqi
does anyone know how long he's got left on his promotional contract? My guess is he'll run for it when it's up (and he should, if he genuinely wants to be the best), and the promoter will bleat on about "loyalty".

enzo macca wasn't allowed to defend vs a just out of retirement ezra sellers, around 2007 - so there is a precedent.Exoddus wrote:Looks like Nathan Cleverly is trying to follow in the footsteps on his fellow Welsh countryman Joe Calzaghe.
