Boxing news
All the newsagents around here have stopped selling boxing news, and I cannot get hold of it anymore. Do they do a subscription, and if so do any of you fellas have a number/website??
You can subscribe online or by phone all the details are here.

Hope that helps.

Just in time for another price-hike
Its really amusing how they dress up the price increase,
New features on fitness, health and nutrition.
Yep to keep you up to date with boxing
A `shot of the week` piece
This will be a full page, maybe centre-spread of a boxing photo from that week
A `between rounds` a 60 second interview with established and rising fighters
Ali will probably be featured first and then who-ever is on a SN bill that coming week, together with a half page photo
More interviews, big-fight previews and ringside action than before
But don`t they cover all all British fights and all major bills now? Every Fight, Every Punch, Every Week is what it says on the front now
And to get all this in they will be `Doubling in size to 48 pages`
But the pages will be half the size
Every time they have changed the paper size they said its been to get more in, why didn`t they just leave the size how it was because thats what we`ve gone back to, or was it just to add more to the price?
Its still the best publication, but they do take the piss,
I`d be surprissed if they attract more to buy it, its now going to be the price of a magazine but not the quality or size.

I've been taking the Boxing News on a 12 month subscription for the past four or five years... This is the best way by far to get the paper. I used to dread Fridays, going into my local newsagent to find that - more often than not - "It hasn't arrived!"
But since I took out the sub, I think it's been late just once. And yes, it's the best boxing paper/magazine by far....
You can also phone 0208 606 7506 to subscribe

I'm with you. Pre internet I had to buy both, now with broadband I can live without Boxing News. I still subscribe to BM though, cause it naturally (given the more time) can get more detail about results and other peoples opinions on fights etc.steve689 wrote:Boxing News is a great magazine but i always enjoy my Boxing Monthly, seems i am one of a minority there 8)
In recent years I've tended to replace BN with fightnews.
I gave BM the shove a long time ago but as long as Boxing News remains the best boxing publication in the world and I can get it on a Friday morning then I'll keep buying it every week.
Are people really going to moan about having to shell out a whopping 5p extra (or £2.60 over a year) or whatever the price rise is? Come on...

Its an xtra 20per week, its not a great deal for sure it just the fact they dress the price increase up with shite.Kilburn wrote:I gave BM the shove a long time ago but as long as Boxing News remains the best boxing publication in the world and I can get it on a Friday morning then I'll keep buying it every week.

How much is BM? the last issue I bought 1991.
So BM is £1 more than BN.
But BM is magazine quality and I`d imagine have more than 48pages.
BN gives the results on a weekly basis rather than monthly but lets be honest most of us know the results within a few hours anyway.
I`d imagine it won`t be long before BN has to go monthly because soon the price will be the same as a monthly magazine and this will deter the casual fan from picking it up.

I rarely buy BM as so much of it is out of date
With BN, my concern is that the price hikes seem to be getting more frequent ( or perhaps I just imagine that ) from £2, to £2.15 can't have been more than a few months ago.
At £2.50 for a weekly, I would begin to balk at shelling out for what I can, to all intents and purposes find on the web

Thats my main gripe, BN is excellent and I do enjoy to read it, but the increase which does seem every 6months takes the piss just like every xmas edition..double the price and only double the pictures.
If they need to increase the price to cover costs just tell the truth, don`t dress it up by saying other crap to sell it.
Who wants more photo`s?? more amateur news that just seems to cover the London gyms mostly?
It Boxing News not boxing Photo`s, fill it with news and articles,
If they want to put in amateur then go around ALL the amateur gyms and interview their star boxers, imagine reading about a local amateur boxer from down your road, you`d follow him more carefully and pick up on his fellow gym mates...thus making them a little better ticket sellers...ain`t that the point....and how much encouragment would that give the boxer then....but it seems all the amateur boxers they mention are in the area of the BN offices...stop being so lazy and get out to the lesser known gyms.

That's why I stopped buying it recently. Also don't like the idea of any trade mag being too expensive - they should be something you can snatch up on a whim with a bit of pocket change.Kevin wrote:I just hope that moving it to A4 will eradicate the problem of the magazine falling apart which seems to happen most weeks.
