Re: Enzo Calzaghe stripped of trainer's licence
Serves him right. A deal has been agreed between the BBBC & the producers of the medical qualification which will be a business. The provider will have put a lot of time & money into the qualification to ensure it meets the needs of the BBBC. Their reward for investment is that the qualification is used as a license to practice.
I'm sure Enzo wouldn't want someone to be stiffed on a business deal after what Joe went through

Enzo is a real character ... I'm amazed by the success he's had. His achievements as a trainer must make a lot of people mad as he is incredibly naive about so many aspects of exercise theory. Great story and this seems typical of him.
He only needed to watch Hopkins once and knew joe could beat him....
that tells almost the entire calzaghe story
Good luck to him

Re: Enzo Calzaghe stripped of trainer's licence
The biggest argument is that the BBBofC want him to do a first aid course that is specific to boxing, which he has not done.MachoMan09 wrote:"Why do I need to get a new first aid certificate in the first place?" If he's asking questions like that, I'm glad he's been stripped of his licence. Two answers that immediately spring to mind are 1. skill fade and 2. medical advancements. He sometimes comes across as a proper throbber.

An to be fair, most of Joes opponents from 97 to 06, Joe would have beaten them without a corner

Re: Enzo Calzaghe stripped of trainer's licence
Let's cut through the bull and look at the facts,
He never attended the course on his doorstep, the same one that probably several other trainers and cornermen were all going to attend from the region. It would have been pretty well known to those is the trade what the date and venue was.
Then after not turning up at that one - he was told to come to London, he then got a massive arse on about it and thus had his license revoked for not attending.

Political correctness gone mad!
Yeah, you tell 'em Enzo!
I cant see a single reason why a trainer needs basic first aid knowledge, its not like anyone ever got hurt in boxing.

what's wrong with old first aid technique's anyway? a hand drill and a jar of leaches would suffice.Khaosai-Galaxy wrote:Political correctness gone mad!

I held a seconds licence and was told by the board i could not renew as a valid first aid was not held........now i only held a seconnds so really i was only allowed in the ring if the trainer had been thrown out of the corner which in 6 yrs holding never happened once so my point is WHY should i have to hold a first aid which i've taken once before but ran out when the trainer in corner holds on plus the various medics and paramedics ring side di a load of bol l ocks if you ask me money, money, money thats all the board are bothered about.Khaosai-Galaxy wrote:Final round wrote:what's wrong with old first aid technique's anyway? a hand drill and a jar of leaches would suffice.Khaosai-Galaxy wrote:Political correctness gone mad!

Just because a guy hasn't be thrown out of the corner in six years, it doesn't mean he'll never get kicked out of the corner - leaving you in the command seat.
People have a tendency to toss-off first aid courses, and such like, but they are almost always the people who've never been in a situation that requires usage of first aid; they are also the people who are flapping around in a panic and/or shock when something does actually happen, and invariably are the ones who struggle to cope, psychologically, in the aftermath when they blame themselves (often rightly) for being effing useless.

Re: Enzo Calzaghe stripped of trainer's licence
The idea of the course was to give trainer seconds a qualification specifically tailored to boxing. The course includes segments on diet, dehydration, head injury, fitness and training, supplements, shock, brakes, strains, fracture etc to name a few.
Boxers are generally well provided for medically at professional shows but in the gym its a different kettle......
It gives trainer seconds a basic grounding to ensure that if the worst happens to a boxer in the ring or the gym, he has the best chance possible of recovery from his/her injuries. Feedback in general from those who have raken the course has been very positive.

Basic it isn't!!!!Scrap wrote:I thought the one I went too was very Basic, waste of time.
It's a very intensive course that lasts a day. The blue binder containing over 250+ pages of information plus the practical work and the written multiple choice test at the conclusion is anything but. Unless you already know it all
