Hamed was an idol in his era, so what if he's put on a few pounds, he was one on the most exciting fighters i have ever had the pleasure of seeing, the money destroyed his boxing hunger IMO, and the politics of boxing also took it's toll, i remember Warren buying him a Ferrari with NAZ 1 i think, the guy was only 20 odd, i watched him because he was a one punch KO boxer, who was one of the best of his era, my misses watched him because he was an arrogant bastard who she wanted to loose, thats why he was such a great person to have in boxing, i personally would like to see him back in commentary or something like that, he dont need to grace the ring again.

Spot on, great fighter. I would get fat with his money too. He's done his job now let him enjoy life. Also, don't you think 'porker' is a bit rude Naz being a devout Muslim.

Exactly. I don't give a toss about him being overweight, afterall he's hardly the first fighter to let himself go. I just hope it puts to bed the frequent 'NAZ RETURNS, INNIT?' threads that crop up every few months.

Good on him for enjoying some top munch. He isnt a boxer anymore so he shouldnt be judged on his weight anymore. I cant agree with some of the disrespect that gets heaped on him sometimes. Naz was a class act and he was a great thing for british boxing. What an entertainer. Keep eating the pies Naz u deserve them

I am thinking, if he really dedicates himself to training, gets back with Kevin Rooney and has a couple of warm up fights, he could be a competetive challenger

He was great for boxing, but a class act he was not - he had no class.

I think from the entertainment perspective he was a class act. I loved the way he jumped over the top rope and his wild entrances and cockiness. This infuriated alot of fans but i loved it and imo opinion it was a class act

I agree, I don't think he could ever have recovered from the loss to Barrera. He was never going to get any better, and was actually in decline for some time before the barrera fight.

The work ethic had gone, the desire wasn't quite there, and it was clear during the Calvo fight that Naz had become an ordinary fighter.

Blame Junior Jones. I wouldn't mind but what did Jones himself prove afterwards? He had Barrera's "number" but then just became a scalp, for the likes of Morales, Ingle and almost Richard bloody Evatt.

He was great for boxing, but a class act he was not - he had no class.

I always thought that but the way he accepted the Barrera defeat was quite classy / humble.

Yes you have to give Naz that one. The guy had beer thrown at him during his ring walk, was embarassed in the ring a quite few times over the 12 rounds and lost his unbeaten record on the most miserable night of his life. But he offered no excuses or bitterness afterwards. That was class from him.

Good for him showing class when he felt completely humiliated (what else could he have done?) but quite happy to humiliate people as much as possible when he was on top.

Whats classy about that?

Don't get me wrong I was as entertained as anyone by his fights and never missed them but I found some of his antics a little tiresome.

I just wouldn't consider him a class individual personally in any way shape or form.
