There's much more to this than Danny wanting to fight. It should be him getting stopped if he wants to fight on. This is an absolute disgrace

We only want him to stop to shield ourselves from the guilt of watching him take a hiding. We were happy to watch him taking big shots a few years back when we found him entertaining and now he is no longer of any use to us we want him to turn it in.

It is OK using them as a means rather than as an end when they serve a purpose, then they don't and we want them out of sight and mind.

I think you make a valid point. People overlook the obvious damage some fighters are doing to themselves so long as they are competitive. Nobody encourages a successful fighter who takes punishment in every fight to retire. JuanMa springs to mind.

However, I think its a bit of a leap from that to say that somehow the only reason people want him to stop is because he's crap now. He's very obviously not fit to be in a boxing ring and has no more right to be there than some other deluded fool has any right to run around the motorway. I don't think it is a question of personal liberty. Following that argument, no trainer should ever pull out a fighter who wants to continue, no ref should stop a fight and there should be no weight classes. All of these are measures to protect the safety of participants and when someone is no longer able to participate safely, they should not be allowed to do so.

It must be some kind of mistake or wind up surely? If Williams was trying to lose 120lbs he'd kill himself trying to do so. If he was going to drop down weight divisions surely he'd try cruiser or light heavy.

My point has been missed. It's the beating his opponent will take which I am talking about.

Just read an interesting OP on an ESB forum seemingly suggesting that Williams is dropping down to 160 lbs to fight this guy.....

It's not true, that article's a joke. Can't believe anyone thinks it's real

I certainly didn't...there seemed a few on there who did though.

I wouldn't have been suprised if it was Danny's genuine intention, however delusional. I thought the whole Latvia thing was turd initially and am now learning to assume nothing when it comes to Danny's intentions these days.

British heavyweight boxing sensation Danny Williams, of Brixton London, is to make a surprise comeback to the ring after a devastating loss at the hands of prospect Leif Larsen. The Norwegian-born fighter tore Williams a new corn shoot in the second round, putting a "final" end to his career.

In a twist of fate, Danny Williams has announced he is going to make another comeback fight. The only noticeable difference is this time he will be fighting at 160lb (middleweight). Although the likeliness of this must be questioned, the British heavyweight revealed "When ever you feel to do something there will be people that will doubt you and question, but this is something I have to do. God willing, this time we will be seeing a new Danny Williams"

"I know that losing a lot of weight is going to be hard but in the long run I feel that myself and the sport of boxing will benefit from it."

"I've been taking a lot of supplements in the past, all strictly legal and safe but a certain one was making my body hold a lot of water. I am not currently taking any supplements and I'm boxing better than ever."

These is much question over the safety of losing that much weight, after fighting at 285lb just a few months ago. The British boxer is due to be facing unknown fighter Marvin Meyer on the 31 of March. This will most defiantly be a match up to watch out for.

I've heard on the grapevine that he is going to be having a specialist in his team to help him get down to it. Hugo Hart M.D,F.A.C.S from Miami Beach is a real expert on helping people cut weight and he looks to have the tools to help Danny reach his outcome

I can't find anything other than that story from the author, who is he?

I can't find a credible place running the same story (plenty of copy/pastes of this story though).

The article does quote Danny (?) and it does strike me as the sort of notion he'd come up with.

Is anyone in touch with Danny to have a word? I'm intrigued.
