nasser on points for me mutley is past his best and if it goes the distance nas wide points win. mutley will b looking for one big shot to end it and its his only chance of winning. shame the ball rematch isnt happening that fight was bubbling up nicely. mutley wud b a gud scalp for nassers record and i think its gud mangement sorting this fight for nasser at this stage of his career
Re: Nasser Al Harbi V Young Mutley 11th May 2012
Mutley will always be dangerous all through the fight, Nasser will have speed and movement, different fight to the Jamie Ball, Jamie was Taller and a southpaw, I don't think Nas will have hands so low in this fight, Mutley more of a puncher. We Tried to get the Rematch with Balls camp but they did not want it, maybe it could happen in the future if one of us gets a major title, We had no luck getting Ochieng either, so we are going back down to welter for this fight with Mutley, after all we only weighed in at 10st 10 Ilbs for the ball fight. should be another great fight in the making, with Mutley looking good in Prizefighter and in last chance saloon, this fight could propel Nas towards a major title.maley1984 wrote:nasser on points for me mutley is past his best and if it goes the distance nas wide points win. mutley will b looking for one big shot to end it and its his only chance of winning. shame the ball rematch isnt happening that fight was bubbling up nicely. mutley wud b a gud scalp for nassers record and i think its gud mangement sorting this fight for nasser at this stage of his career

No disrespect to mutley I was flued up in the fight an won a boring fight easy but his power was not all that especially what I was expecting an I got hit flush a few times was fine I can honestly hold my hand on my heart an say I haven't been hurt yet as a pro biggest puncher I have faced would say is woodhouse or this French kid I thought on my second fight his jab was like a right hand glad he came to survive Nasser to win easy IMO maybe late after 6 round stoppage
Re: Nasser Al Harbi V Young Mutley 11th May 2012
too be honest Frankie I think you made Curtis into a better fighter, the confidence he has got from giving you a good fight, he could well win a british title at Light welter now, sometimes a defeat can raise a person's belief, when lasts the distance with a much higher level performer. Great performance in your last fight, you would not believe he was a former british champion how easily you dismantled him.Frankie Gavin wrote:No disrespect to mutley I was flued up in the fight an won a boring fight easy but his power was not all that especially what I was expecting an I got hit flush a few times was fine I can honestly hold my hand on my heart an say I haven't been hurt yet as a pro biggest puncher I have faced would say is woodhouse or this French kid I thought on my second fight his jab was like a right hand glad he came to survive Nasser to win easy IMO maybe late after 6 round stoppage

Re: Nasser Al Harbi V Young Mutley 11th May 2012
Mutley's "power" hasn't been in evidence for years imo.
He's been in "last chance saloon" for years now apparently.
Don't think he wanted to risk much against Gavin and was happy to go the distance in a poor poor fight (IMHO).
On the evidence I've saw Mutley still has too much for Nasser - tbh I saw a fair bit of Nasser in his early career and wasn't overly impressed, seemed a bit of a hype job to me BUT (before Safeerah jumps down my throat) I haven't seen much if any of him in the last 2 years or so (as dont live in the area anymore) and have heard of people's opinions I value that he is looking a lot better, one to watch.
Another qaulity untelevised fight from DC.

I like Mutley but he must have 8 versions of himself in the ring.
He brings a new flaw every fight.![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

A very interesting fight. Nas is slippery and I would have liked to have seen the Ball fight last a bit longer to see how Nas has come on over the last year or so (fwiw I had Nas 2 rounds to 1 up with Ball coming on a bit stronger). Can't fault Nag and Nas for taking the fight though as its time for Nas to prove himself at the next level. If Lee comes to fight and win, it could be a hard nights work for Nas, but either way I'm looking forward to another good nights boxing courtesy of DC.
Re: Nasser Al Harbi V Young Mutley 11th May 2012
I understand where you are coming from Insider, fair comments, Nasser has had a lot of inactivity and injuries over the last 2 years, fights falling through and injuries due to raising the bar on training levels, whilst still growing, he is still only 22 years old. With the Ball fight, Nasser was starting to hurt Ball and Balls legs did stiffin in round 3, Nasser's best round, I think if it had gone on further Nasser could well have stopped him later on, as confirmed by Ball's team who refused a rematch, but I do have to give it to Ball he is a a tough awkward southpaw and his back hand was much improved. The cut was nothing and would not normally stop a fight, it was caused by a head clash as Ball tried to throw to the body, as seen on video. With Young Mutley he has seen it and done it, so you can't take that away from him, so a good step up for Nasser, anyone who has 30 wins has to be respected, but it is not about what Mutley comes to the table, but what Al Harbi comes to the table that will decide it, we know what Nasser can do in the gym and level he has sparred and how he has performed, so we know what he is capable of. In the past Nasser has fought with injuries and sickness, so not been at his best and sometimes his timing has been off with inactivity, in the run up to the Ball fight he had a very bad knee injury caused when he was sparring and he caught the bottom rope whilst moving at speed, for 3 weeks he could not do his runs or spar, infact he had only a few spars towards the end of his training camp, all he could do was swim, upper body and stairs, this kept him fit, it was a good job the match was at light middle, instead of his usual welterweight otherwise we would have struggled with the weight. The Insider wrote:A very interesting fight. Fingers crossed Nas stays fit and injury free in the build up. It will be nice to see what Nas can do having followed his career from day one. Hats off again for taking the fight lads.

Re: Nasser Al Harbi V Young Mutley 11th May 2012
This show also has Vicious Keiren Farrell, Mr Excitement Peter Vaughan, top young prospect Tommy Ghent and some good young prospects from birmingham. Coldwell's last show at new Bingley Hall, Birmingham was a cracker, this one could be even better. Young Mutley is well up for this fight and believes a win could get him back on in the title frame, Nasser Al Harbi is on the verge of a big title shot, so a win against Mutley could well tip the balance his way, Al Harbi has the chance to get back on track after a bad decision to stop his last fight on a nothing cut and award a technical draw, when he had won all the rounds on the ref's card and hurt his opponent a few times. Al Harbi will also be looking for an injury free build up this time, as last time he injured his knee badly in sparring for the Ball fight, so this time an injury free training camp and fighting a former british champion and former european title challenger should give him all the incentive he requires for a big performance on the 11th May.safeerah wrote:Nasser Al Harbi 13-0-1 V Young Mutley 30-7

if mutley is up for it he should win easy but he hasnt seemed too motivated for last few years
Re: Nasser Al Harbi V Young Mutley 11th May 2012
I disagree. Technically Nasser is a much better boxer in my opinion and should win a unanimous decision. However, Mutley punches harder and has mixed it in higher class. Mutley merely has a puncher's chance.Adamj1987 wrote:if mutley is up for it he should win easy but he hasnt seemed too motivated for last few years

2. i think mutleys ring knowledge, experience and awareness compensates for the deficit in skill
3. mutleys power hasnt been used for a long time i think he only has 1 KO in last 5 years (without checking his record so i maybe wrong) so if he will win i highly doubt it will be on a KO
Re: Nasser Al Harbi V Young Mutley 11th May 2012
Mutley still has snap in his punches and definitely punches harder than Nasser. I don't think he can outbox Nasser so a points victory is very unlikely for him. I have been in attendance for 4 of Mutley's last five fights and his general skills have deteriorated. I don't think its his motivation, he's just not the same fighter he used to be. However, it's a good step up in class for Nasser and will give him valuable experience against an experienced veteran.Adamj1987 wrote:1. I like the way you cover yourself with " if Mutley is up for it " So if Mutley loses he was not up for it,, RIGHT. Mutley was not up for it against Tyrone Nurse in his last fight because he lost, but up for it against Mark Lloyd because he won. Mutley is up for this fight, he is determined to get back into the title picture and it is not about money either, I think he will put on a good performance as there is a lot of issues between the 2 camps, so he will not want to lose this one for his camp, the winner could get a shot at a major title, so everything to gain. With your prediction, we will see who is the better man on the night.Adamj1987 wrote:if mutley is up for it he should win easy but he hasnt seemed too motivated for last few years

You are right that Mutley has the experience and you can't buy that and he does have power, especially with his left hook, but the only fight he did not perform was against Frankie Gavin IMO, mainly because of his tactics to sit back on the ropes and try and catch Gavin with big shot, plus he was against a great boxer who controlled the ring. Mutley's last stoppage was about 2 years ago against a decent fighter, but he has only had 4 fights since, 2 of them being Prizefighter, so it is difficult assess his power with such inactivity, but after his fights in prizefighter he should be spot on.Adamj1987 wrote:what i mean was in some fights he's looked to survive more than winsafeerah wrote:I like the way you cover yourself with " if Mutley is up for it " So if Mutley loses he was not up for it,, RIGHT. He had not fought for 8 or 9 months for that fight and got caught cold and stopped, you could not say he was not up for it, just got caught it was a shock at the time, though Mutu had gone distance with some good fighters and beat some decent ones.Adamj1987 wrote:he didnt look up for it against mutu ages ago when i watched him and he was closer to title level then. but i think mutley could win itsafeerah wrote:You are right that Mutley has the experience and you can't buy that and he does have power, especially with his left hook, but the only fight he did not perform was against Frankie Gavin IMO, mainly because of his tactics to sit back on the ropes and try and catch Gavin with big shot, plus he was against a great boxer who controlled the ring. I agree Mutley will only be there to collect the pay cheque
Re: Nasser Al Harbi V Young Mutley 11th May 2012
Mcato I welcome his comments as I welcome yours, but I don't think Mutley has not been trying to win, but maybe The Law has a point in that Mutley maybe not as good as before. The question is usually the same in cross road fights " Has the experienced fighter slipped enough, has the Young prospect improved enough ". On the night all will be revealed.mcato wrote:Safeerah dont let him wind you up. Mutley is just ticking over and paying the bills, nothing wrong with that but I dont think he'll be trying to win. I understand it's hard to get fights without a big promoter so Nasser has to take it when he can. Thats boxing!
