Tony Jeffries
Tony Jeffries
2010 - boxed 4 times
2011 - boxed 1 time
2012 - not heard anything for ages
I know he had to undergo hand surgery, and moved to Santa Monica - but unsure of what his fight plans are for 2012.

Re: Tony Jeffries
He's going to assess things in approximately 3 months time. His estimated recovery time (given by his doctor) was 8 months and that was just under 5 months ago. If his hands are better then he shall be looking for a fight.

What about an Olympic medal?allahsnackbar wrote:He is never going to achieve anything in boxing
Re: Tony Jeffries
I do not believe that Jeffries will win any title as a pro.
Is heart just isn't in it - he had admitted so on this forum.

Re: Tony Jeffries
I wonder if boxers can insure their hands, like a footballer can insure their legs/feet.

Not even an Area or Intercontinental title?bripez wrote:I do not believe that Jeffries will win any title as a pro.
I can't remember reading that, but he doesn't seem that into it.bripez wrote:Is heart just isn't in it - he had admitted so on this forum.
Re: Tony Jeffries
I think the long lay off will answer a lot of questions for Jeffries about his future career and to decide if he wants to go places in boxing. I may be way off, but from what I have seen so far he is happy living the life of a boxer, but not happy being a boxer. His style is still very raw and amateurish and unfortunately he cuts very easily, but I disagree with above comments about him not achieving anything in pro boxing in the future. A lot worse boxers than Jeffries have won domestic honours, even European titles and I think if he puts 100% commitment into it and screws his head on, he can pick up a title of some sort. Talent is nothing without hunger and ambition in boxing.
Re: Tony Jeffries
Any attempt at an Area / Masters / Intercontinental title will be just window dressing to sell a fight that will be effectively meaningless. I cannot see him winning a British title, which is a minimum level you would expect from an Olympic medallist.Horse wrote:Not even an Area or Intercontinental title?bripez wrote:I do not believe that Jeffries will win any title as a pro.

I have read on this forum (can't remember if it was one if his comments when he used to post, or was a comment in an article) that he doesn't love boxing, but it just happens to be something he is good at (Bellew and others confirmed this in comments on a thread at the time when they were defending this comment in the context that most people don't exaclty jump out of bed in a morning and can't wait to get to work).

Big decisions to be made when the new boxing season starts. Jaffa could do very well for himself on the domestic scene, obviously dependant on the situation with his hands.

He says he is waiting for his hands to heal on his FB page. Should be about three months time.
