Re: 2012 NY Daily News Golden Gloves (85th Ann.)
I got to the show late so I missed some of the earlier bouts...
Elijah Thomas 201 Plus beat Samar Bowe...Bryant Cruz beat Dominique James...Vassiliy Zherebnenko beat Titus Williams
Anthony Merete from Veterans Memorial beat Ross Eison from Green Fitness Studio
Jeremy Humphrey from Gleasons Gym beat Claude Paul from Freeport PAL
I walked in right before Titus and Vassiliy...ugly fight, lotta holding, Titus lost a point, Vassiliy lost 2...Vasiliy may have won it with a few more clean punches in the last round...I believe it was 3-2, cudda went either way...I would post the fight but I missed a min or so of the first round...if u guys wanna see it let me know...
As I was walking in Bryant Cruz was all over Dominique James, didn't hear the decision but I know he won...
Jeremy Humphrey beat Claude Paul in a real good fight, Claude was a lil too aggressive for his own good in the 3rd walking into some punches in a good fight...
So 132 Open is Bryant Cruz against Vassiliy Zherebnenko...deff have to favor Vassiliy, he has the experience and to me is much better technically...
I'll post the full results tomorrow...

Re: 2012 NY Daily News Golden Gloves (85th Ann.)
The first fight last night was in the 201Plus Igor Plevako (last years Champion) He was up against
Wieslaw Zagja it was a good match up both are European style fighters. Igor gave Wieslaw two 8 counts in the first round one in the second round and finally stop him in round 3 with a knock down on a big overhand right. Igor caught him a few times with that same punch in the match up. this sets up a rematch of last years 201 plus open championship between
Igor Plevako and Elijah Thomas and it will most likely be the same results Igor with a 3rd round stoppage.

^^^It was a 2nd round stoppage last year lol but yeah I think Iegor will take it again...wat did you think of Titus and Vassiliy?
I think if Vassiliy wins in the Finals (which I'd be suprised if he didn't) he could win fighter of the tournament, he beat 2 time Golden Glove champion Marcos Suarez, former Golden Glove finalist Rajon Grant, and the Metro champ Titus Williams...BUT
If Patrick Day beats Christopher Galeano I'd be shocked if he doesn't win it...especially since he's #1 in the country next to 152 Olympian Errol Spence, or they could give it to Galeano...both guys won tough bouts to get to the Garden.

Re: 2012 NY Daily News Golden Gloves (85th Ann.)
Post up the vids. Dang I'm little shocked Titus lost. I was expecting vassily and Williams in the finals. The draws this year Is tough alot of upsets this year . But vassily is a good fighter he faught shemuel pagan a few times in the garden and metros.
Re: 2012 NY Daily News Golden Gloves (85th Ann.)
This years match making has been upsetting but i think vassiliy should get that award. Hes pullled offf the biggest upsets this year. But damn iegor is goen to beat thomas again unlesss hes stepped it up biggg time
But then again Wesley ferrer Patrick Day and Chrisopher Galeano had the toughest trip to the garden. Fought their preliminaries of the GG then flew out to colorado to figt a week straight travel back to ny to fight that same week over here

I'm only gonna leave it up for a few days cuz its not the full fight, check it out tho...
It was a winnable for Titus, he could have pushed it more down the stretch...Vassiliy won on those cards by 2-3 pts...tough draw though
No disrespect to Dominique James and Bryant Cruz but they haven't won any recent tournaments, you figure the 2 toughest guys in the division, Vassiliy who has a ton of experience and is a Golden Glove champ and 3 time finalist and Titus who won the Metros wouldn't face each other but hey, I guess you draw who you draw at the end of the day...

Nyamatuer. I agree with you. Williams should of faught Bryant or James and vassily with either the two. Williams and vassily are the 2 good fighters out the 4.

These 10 days are gonna be the longest days lol i cant wait.
123o- i think stoute will take it hes fast and wont stand in front of roman. But roman wont make it easy
132o- vassiliy .. I heard bryant cruz is pretty good also might turn out to be a good one.
141o- Ferrer .. Def going to be a good one but ferrer is stronger then ceballo
152o- Galeano .. The hype for the 52 open is going to be bigger then last years 132o.. But they are def going to put on a show for the garden
165o- leshawn rodriguez
201+ iegor is too skilled for elijah
If only they can put all of the opens for friday night
I hope ronniel wins the gold just like his brother may he rip also did at 152. Ronniel has alot of expirience i was suprised he lost last year

[quote="NYAmateur90"]^^^It was a 2nd round stoppage last year lol but yeah I think Iegor will take it again...wat did you think of Titus and Vassiliy?
It was a very ugly fight to watch they both have a lot of speed and a similar fighting style. I saw Titus in a earlier Golden Gloves event in Hempstaed. I spoke with him after the fight he was confident in that he was going to take it all. With Vassiliy having 2 points taken and Titus just 1 in a match up that close I thought Titus would have gotten the nod. It gets sad sometimes for these kids in these tight matches but it still a great life lesson keep your head up and keep fighting on.
OK..... I wasn't meaning to get so deep....LOL

Christina Cruz won her 6th pair of Golden Gloves...dayum lol
Brian Ceballo defeated Wesley Ferrer in the 141 Open Final...
Wow Wesley beat Ceballo in the Metros, and now he beat Wesley in the Gloves...
Ceballo did the same thing last year, lost to Patrick Day, then beat him in the Finals...guess those 2 weeks really make a difference for him...
