Would You Do This?

Post by Goodnight, Irene »

Heres the scenario...

You are handed the option to face your favourite Heavyweight boxer, restored to their former glory, in a contest. Your idol and now foe has no knowledge you arent a pro boxer, and will fight to win accordingly. There is no purse on offer, merely the chance to experience Boxing royalty in a way you otherwise never could. However, you will be afforded the opportunity to have any paraphenalia you wish signed, and your own copy of the bout on DVD. You are free to choose if this is an event at Caesar's, MSG, or any other famous Boxing locale in front of cameras and a roaring crowd, or private, behind closed doors. Your rival will come to fight just the same.

Which do you choose?

As honored as I might be to say Evander Holyfield whipped my ass, I'd need a purse. It's prize fighting after all, so No.

And I'd hate to see you after a fight with George, hell no to that.

No way. We will all surely get knocked out in the first 1:00 even if he knows we aren't a pro fighter. I'm 5'8 155 so I'm sure Tyson would go for the kill with his first punch.

George Foreman - 6'4", 220lbs.

Goodnight, Irene - 5'8", 185lbs.

To say nothing of the Boxing pedigree. I really want to say yes to this, but teeth dont grow back, brain damage doesnt heal with time, and you would have to seriously consider the risk of death to me as substantial.

The memories (if I had any post-fight) would be undeniably special...but the danger of permanent damage or a fatality is just too high.

Nothing would be worth the worst case scenario of what that man could do to someone like me.

George Foreman would instantly cease being my favorite fighter if he's staring across the ring at me with destruction in his eyes. So no.

I weigh about 215 right now, and I'm not sure I'd be willing to step in with my all time favorite Welterweight, let alone Heavyweight. I don't think it would be all that fun to get your ass kicked from pillar to post, no matter how much respect you had for the guy doing it.

Great point! If the post wasnt specifically about Heavyweights though, then yes, I would probably step into the ring with my all time favorite Julio Cesar Chavez. I'm a big football player looking guy, over 300pds, so i would probably take the shallacking for a while before I say "enough of this sh#t!" and quit.

Yes I would agree to it.

My rival and idol would be: Rocky Marciano
(I'm taller and heavier than him, so maybe that could count for something, although I know it won't)

I would fight him at: The MGM Grand
Middle of Las Vegas, Sin City baby!!!

And I would get knocked out in the first round but I would try to land a good clean right o his face before I go down with busted ribs.

My idol is Zury Lawrence. I might say yes.

Otherwise, it's certain death for me, not KO'ed, but really dead. I can't honestly imagine being hit by a Frazier's punch.

Not sure I have a favorite but I would like to fight someone close to my weight to get a realistic experience.

Ahh Heavyweight Roy Jones. Just to see if his speed was as ridiculous as it looked on camera.

No. I have no desire to get hit in the head again by any champion (or anybody else for that matter) especially just "for the fun of it.".

If you took the Heavyweight out of the question I would probably be in even more trouble against The HitMan.

Where's TBE when we need him? That guy could easily take a left hook from Tua.

I'd fight Frazier in MSG before a packed house.

At 6'5", I would tower over Joe and I would gracefully stick and move, keep that jab going, and get him all set for a big right uppercut when he came under the jab.

If that didn't work, I'd push and shove, that is a proven technique.

If that didn't work, I'd go full bicycle.

If that didn't work, I'd go full fetal.

So you think fecal before fetal, eh?

Freaking embarrassing, no matter which way.

I have to agree with the people who say theres little point getting sparked out for a pair of signed gloves... perhaps a better thread would be to say who would you like to spar?

I wouldn't get in the ring with Foreman now, never mind in his prime. If it was any weight then I'd let Pep win a round against me without punching ;;-)

All one has to do is go down on the first jab and then stay down, so I'd probably do this. Although Dempsey would probably come in with a sweeping hook to my head . .which may leave me decapitated.

Pretty sure the first punch would be to the body if it was me. I'd be using every part of me possible to cover my head.

You're not doing it for signed gloves. Thats an aside.
