In fairness, I believe at least one of my fighters ''ducked'' Marciano during this period to choose other title fights. The timing was wrong, but as I remember #1 commish said Marciano could take these low quality match-ups if nobody called him out. Marciano didn't have much choice, even though I believe he COULD have got a decent match-up if he tried hard enough. The earnest was on us to make a fight with him and everyone was busy in TMDT, with other titles, or being fags.

Agreed. There has to be a degree of impartiality for any acting Commish - but by the same train of thought BoxBuzz should not be trying to encourage others to vote Rocky...

It wasn't THE ROCK doing any ducking.....everyone was running away.

If The Rock doesn't duck at all - why didn't you face Joe Louis in a WBC Title Eliminator in Week 6.
And why did you drop your IBF Title rather than face Joe Louis as the mandatory challenger?

That was posturing......remember we were happy to DROP a title and face Louis...that was the "nothing but a beating" mentality THE ROCK had regarding Louis at that time....... just being disagreeable.

Which is exactly what Louis got....NOTHING BUT A BEATING.....but Lonsdale pride would have been inherited had Joe won.

The other Lewis got near the same treatment as I recall

Indeed....THE ROCK was told that many were "Busy". And of course some fighters just wanted some shiney belts....but few wanted a true fight.

Another noteworthy statistic is that Rocky and Muhammad's records are mathematically identical:

Rocky Marciano - 33 wins, 7 losses, 1 draw - (9 CPU opponents)

Compared to:

Muhammad Ali - 33 wins, 7 losses , 1 draw - (2 CPU opponents I think)

You seem to left have KO's out. I wonder if there is a difference between their KO records?.....he KO'd the "UNKO'ABLE as part of his routine

Louis did indeed sacrifice his title to fight Marciano... Joead to jump through hoop-after-hoop to get that fight against The Rock.

Yep, Louis finished up just ahead of THE ROCK AND flat out on the canvas (for the second time this season) for all to see.
