I think Dempsey comes out quick and full of energy and takes the first 3 rounds bUt Johnson is crafty and would only be outhustled and would not take too much damage. I think he then slowly turns ther fight round hurting Dermpsey and forcing him to slow down.

I then think Dempsey tries tor ally late on but it's not quite enough and Johnson takes a confortable UD 15

I think only Ali could have beaten Johnson. Even then it would be close and I make this selection simply becasue Ali is closer in time and so it's easier to judge his accomplishments.

i see dempsey coming out early with alot of energy, and he will take the first 2 or 3 rounds, bt after that, i think he is a smart enough boxer to take it slow, and pace himself. i see him fighting smart in the middle rounds, picking his punches, and grabbing hold of johnson whenever he tried to get somethign going, dempsey was good at that, i think that dempsey would find his secnd wind in the late rounds and punish johnson with that left hook of his, and either find him self a late round KO or a UD over 15 rounds.

I think skills wise he was as good as anyone and maybe the best technical heavyweight ever. Add to this the fact that he was a superb athlete and you have a formidable opponent for anyone. Johnson's record before winning the title was superb. There's no doubt that he didn't always wow the crowds and that he often fought within himself but he didn't waste much energy in the ring. He ahd the defence and the reflexes to box at range and was great at stopping fighters working on the inside. He also had a sneaky uppercut that was very powerful.

Jack had a vicious streak ina nd out of the ring and whilst I admire him as a fighter he was not particularly a great human being. Still, so much was against him back in those days and he allowed his frustration to be chanelled in the ring.

I think he could smother most of the big punchers, frustrate them and stop them. The best way to beat him would be to be busy from round 1 to round 15 and try and out work him with a high and persistent punch rate. I think he was tooc rafty to get KO'd in his prime.
