David Letizia Vs Gunnar Jackson PABA Light-Heavyweight Title

Post by N2 Shape »

Hey guys just checking your thoughts on the recently made PABA Light-Heavyweight Title fight between David Letizia (9-2-1) and Gunnar Jackson (12-2-2)

The guys have fought once before Gunnar was 1-1-0 at the time and they fought to a 6 round Draw in Perth. The rematch is obviously over 12x3min and for a PABA title guess the question is how much has Gunnar Improved since the first fight and how much fight does Daivd have left in his 41yo legs? Gunnar is 15 years younger and been alot more active and comming off a 10 round shut out points win over Kashie Mumtaz for the NZPBA Super-Middleweight Title so he's in shape and a couple weeks left to put the finishing touches on.

Should be a good scrap, Letizia is a tough guy fighting in front of his people he'll no doubt be up for it!

Jackson vs. Samy in NZ is history. Samy scored 4 week holiday last Sunday.

I had heard from the Soulan powncenby camp that gunner turned down a good money fight for Wbo title as Gunnar didn't want to fight at light heavy? Change of mind or false rumour ? Hope Jackson wins all The same as
More titles in Nz

Hey guys, yes this a good fight, exactly what Craig said is correct, but we are a little early, I have not had the fight approved as yet, but it's just a formality, I have approved it, but i like to advise the PABA office in Seoul, so until contracts have been exchanged and the fight is formally approved, it's just a good fight, that will happen eventually.

Their last fight was a real good scrap, I thought Gunnar was a touch unlucky not to get the nod, but i was just the Referee and my concentration levels are not that of a Judge, so i am not criticizing the Judges decision, Gunnar was a real novice at just 1 fight, but also David came into the fight with Injury, and was short of a gallop, but there is no excuse for either boy, it was a terrific fight, this time there is unfinished business for both boys, plus with the title same title Danny Green held on the line, it makes for a good fight.

Warwick Capper just called me & asked for your contact details. He is willing to replace Gunnar, if Alan Kim doesn't approve.

Looks like a well matched fight, I'd like to see Letizia win but haven't seen Jackson fight so it's hard to make a call (especially since Jackson is yet to beat anyone with a winning record).

Robbie Bryant (15-1-1, ranked #105 at middleweight) is fighting on the same card, defending his PABA middleweight title against Arnel Tinampay (17-13-1, ranked #158 at middleweight). Bryant should have a size advantage, but Tinampay has been in with better opposition, has never been stopped and pushed Daniel Dawson to a majority decision last year. Both might be a bit rusty, both not having fought since winter last year. I think you have to make Bryant a narrow favourite, but this is really a fight he needs to win if he wants to go anywhere. I'll tip Bryant to win a competitive but unanimous decision.

There was an offer to fight soul money was decent by Nz standards but at that stage we had already agreed to the nzpba title fight against Mumtaz and while some people would cut and run to take the better $$ fight for a regional title I dont work Like that. We had made a commitment to fight for a promoter and are not in the business of letting people down! Also a national title was a natural
Progression for Gunnar and his first 10 rounder!

The Decision to fight Letizia was not made lightly he's a tough bugger and in his own backyard Gunnar will have to bring his very best to get a positive result! I agree with brad the first fight was a good scrap now over 12 it'll be a fantastic battle !

Craig, Soul has been quiet in recent times, he is a very talented fighter, I think Gunnar will give him something to think about as well, its a good fight and a step up for Gunnar, not saying he will defeat Soul, who would start favourite, but its a good hard close fight for both guys.

Because of guys like you, the sport in kiwi is flourishing, your word is your bond, you do a deal on handshake and money cannot and will not make you dog out on a promoter, I wish there were more like you mate, pity some of the guys over here do not take a leaf from your book.

I wish you & Gunnar all the best for the PABA title fight with David Letizia, It will be a terrific fight and i know fought in good sportsmanship as all your guys do, I look forward to catching you in Perth mate.

Berridge has not fought a ten rounder yet and you want him to fight for a regional title?

The reason Letizia is so low, Is because he dosnt fight in front of the ANBF rankings guys. The Aussie rankings in some divisions are absolute crap, much like a lot of the fights that go ahead for the Aussie title.

OZ ratings are solely based on results & activity and not who sees what & their opinion.

You may think the ratings are done on results, but that is absolute bullshit.

Why is Andrew Green not rated???

Letizia holds the title. Jackson won a New Zealand title in his last fight, a ten rounder.

If Berridge wins a national title he can fight for a regional title. For reasons best known to themselves Berridge's people are dropping him to a four rounder for his next fight.

Anyone can fight for regional title. Just need a sucker promoter to come up with sanction coin.

He is a LtHeavy, Made it 3 times in a row, then injured his shoulder. He will be back at LtHeavy for his next fight apparently.

Yeah, but he hasn't fought at the weight since 2010. Wait & see 'til his next fight.
