Do you mean Moderator (forum) or editor (database)?

For starters you will have to listen to a lot of sensless whining and complaining. You really need to keep an unbiased view between two posters, even if one is completely ridiculous and wrong, as long as it isn't insulting, the person has the right to his/her opinion no matter how ridiculous it may seem, but you don't have to agree with it if you are in the conversation. The hardest for me is to ignore insults because I like to talk shit, but it's something that a moderator should not involve themselves in...except maybe on a rare occasion when someone truly deserves it as has it coming. But if you are an active poster you will have to listen to a lot of crybabys who will say things like, you just think you know this, or that because you're an editor, or moderator...among other things, which is exactly why I asked John to remove the editor status icon from my name because if you are an active poster it does become a pain in the ass to listen to the whining!

I've seen the whining! It's immense. The mods seem to draw uneeded fire. Being non-reactive up to a point seems to be the key. I've noticed what I consider to be a fairness but I've heard from other posters that they disagree on that score.

The only time Ive ever seen things deleted is when things boil down to hatespeech, threats, porn or foul language with no other message. When things get pretty silly I've seen threads locked. I'm not for censorship but civility and "topic management" demands some monitoring or this place could get like some of the boxing nurserys I've visited.

This is a great place to mix some humor with serious talk and the general managment keeps it civil and somewhat on topic. They can't be perfect but on the whole you can say they hit the mark about as well as could be expected.

Now for the people that just want to disturb, be mean spirited, or just useless I'd just as soon them be unhappy and find another place anyway. However simple digression has never been punished. And I speak as a prime example of tangent digression in it's most potent if not lethal form.

Well maybe one time.....A post about a mythical figure that wondered aloud who amounst us could take a full shot from him. It got so bizarre someone just locked it up. But it can be viewed in it's entirety somehwhere on this site.

I had visited this site for about 3 months before I posted my first comment. Now I'm addicted.

If you should become a moderator just stay sane.
