Don Broadhurst Moving To Oz

Post by SAPFO »

So, Don is moving down under, and he says he will continue his career down there. As I know feck all about the scene down there I was wondering what kind of impact he can hope for on the other side of the world. Will he have it tough, or will a local promoter use his Gold in Melbourne to relight his career?

I have moved the thread accordingly :TU:

Was browsing the Boxrec schedule earlier and saw he had a fight in Oz on May 17; didn't know he'd actually moved there. As a "little man" he might find it even harder to get matched (maybe the Aussies can answer that) but at least it puts him closer to S. East Asia which has tons of them.

Most likely incorrect boxer. At his weight can't see a future in OZ. I'll check with promoter.
Mundraby & Kimweri is his only option & Kimweri would be of no velue in Queensland

A good move if you ask me, he can fight for some of the pa
sific and asia titles against fighters from thailand, indonisia and the phillipines, more competition in that area of the world, plus Australia will embrace him because of his boxing record.

It seems more of a life move than a career move for Don. I thought he had another year with W@rren anyway? How would he cope against SE Asia opp?

He will not be far from a lot of good Japanese and Thai super flyweights and bantamweights.

Broadhurst is listed as a super flyweight but most of his recent fights are close to the bantamweight limit. He won the Commonwealth Super Flyweight title and made three successful defenses before losing it to Lee Haskin.

Micallef is a super bantamweight, the WBF International super bantamweight title is not a world title.

Let's face it Lee Haskins has Don Broadhurst's number. The prizefighter final was horrible to watch. He'll be a big fish in a small pond in Aussie. Hopefully he'll get over to s.e asia and fight some of them bad boy's! Facebook Haskins and tell him what it's all about. Coz Lee Haskins - however talented is sh1t to watch.

Would Broadhurst be out of his league against Vic Darchinian?

Nothing doing for young Don in New Zealand. The smallest rated boxers there are lightweights, and there are only three of them.

Thailand has real possibilities. There are 47 World Rated super flies in Thailand, led by WBA Champ Tepparith Singwancha.

It must be so, after all the sage of pacific boxing, the man known through out as The Word, Da Goose has said so. That's right Da Goose, I'm back from my canvas licking (as you put it quite incorectly znd totaly unprofessionaly on another forum) brutal knockout. Why don't you try commentating on websites that cover your interests, like 'I'm OitAnd I'm Proud' or 'Bisexual Quarterly' or perhaps 'Pillow Bighters Monthly' ? Nothing wrong with getting your rocks off watching men "punching each other around the ring" Sevsek, but a queer like you getting your jollies from being involved in boxing is totally wrong and more than a bit creepy. I hope you're not allowed in to the amateures, I'd hate to think you're there watching rhe juiniors and scholboys.

In which forum did I say you licked the canvas?? I had no interest in your fight whatsoever, nor did I know the result 'til it was posted in Boxrec.

But there have been several Thai vs Thai, Thai vs Filipino etc fights in Oz, not to mention Indonesia v Ukraine (John v Merdov).

There is a problem of size there. Most Australian boys get to Vic's weight before they leave school. Thirty years ago Rugby League halfbacks rarely weighed
75 kilos. Now most of them now are over 90 kilos. Better nutrition.
