Seriously I don't think this is about Hatton being frustrated at not getting the big names with Warren... its more like him and his team thinking they can get better money with Warren out of the picture.

I've always had little doubt that Witter has the beating of Hatton, unfortunately fw and team Hatton seem to have the same feeling, hence the no fight!.
Perhaps they'll give him a shot if he shows signs of slowing down!.... :x

And the fact if you get past Round 5 hes for the taking. I think Team Hatton want to see Witter remain poor after all the flak hes caused them.silkov wrote:Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Round Team Hatton they refer to him as 'thou who we shalt duck"hitman_hatton1 wrote: who's this junior witter fella anyway.

I assume that the "irony" is the imputation that Warren has the same level of stranglehold over boxing today as the Duff/Barrett/Astaire trio had in the 80s, and has fed the public a series of non-fights. Also later posts make some hint about "people with less than 100 posts"....which if I were pananoid I might imagine implied in some way that anyone who felt some sympathy for FW was part of Warren's organisation.john2345 wrote:Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:Don't you see any irony in this statement, John, correct though you are?john2345 wrote:(2) he took on the established Duff-Barrett-Astaire trio that virtually ran British boxing in the 80s - and who for example fed Frank Bruno and the British boxing public a string of non-fights.

First point - yes, that was the irony to which I alluded.
Second point re <100 posts - glad you aren't paranoid - nothing to do with you, John. You obviously know what you are talking about and don't seem to have an axe to grind. Stick around a bit (I sincerely hope you do - you seem knowledgeable and good posters make this board) and you will see what I mean.
As for FW - he has his good and bad points. He has made some of the best fights over the last twenty years...but as I've said elsewhere, things pretty much dried up over the last five or even ten. Frank has given his reasons for this.
Khan is probably a bigger name than Hatton already, so FW's marquee future is secured over the next few years, one would have thought. He's still the most powerful promoter out there, as far as Britain goes. But, as it was with Astaire/Duff, things change.
While Hatton was with Warren he had a (phoney) world title and was getting damn good money to defend it against 2/3rd rate fighters. But Hatton wanted to fight the best so while FW did make Hatton good money he never gave him what he really wanted. Seems to me that situation has probably been a simmering cauldron of discontent for Hatton, but while he held the WBU (Warren sponsored title) title he needed Warren, who as mentioned made him really good money from it.
Now he has got a genuine title and can make good, even better, money from it he doesn't need Warren or the WBU.
Loyalty? Well you could say that FW didn't deliver (the Zoo fight was too little too late) what Hatton really wanted, so Hatton doesn't owe him any loyalty. Hatton just stayed with FW because he had to in order to make a good living. It's hard in this business to dump FW and not pay a heavy price for it, particularly if you have nothing to fall back on. Now Hatton has the IBF title to fall back on he can probably afford to take a few chances.
FW threatening legal action has now made it personal thus making the divide a tough bridge for Hatton to cross.
What amazes me is that Team Hatton have dumped FW believing that they have no contractual obligation to him. That infers that any contract FW may, or may not, have with Hatton is deemed by Team Hatton not to be watertight. FW may be a lot of things but naive he is not. I would be amazed if FW does not have a fully binding contract with Hatton. He's not going to deliver Zoo and the IBF title and have a contract that allows his prize cow to be able to walk away from.
My empathy will always be with the boxer in any boxer v promoter wrangle and if Hatton does pull this off succesfully (without paying out loads of hard earned dosh after being sued) then good on him.
p.s. Sorry for the essay. I don't usually do long winded posts.

I think promoters like Warren are about as trustworthy as a used car salesman and wouldn't believe anything that comes out of there mouths. He has odviously done something to upset the Hatton camp and i'd say it is entirly his fault. Hatton with his talent would have no doubt got a shot at the title without Warren so bad luck get on with ripping off your next fighter FWanky.
I suppose whenever Hatton goes to see his bank manager or his stockbroker and they ask him "How did you earn all this money, Ricky?" he says "I got it by being ripped off by allegedly...!"
(To which the bank manager/stockbroker might reply "Jeez! Can I be ripped off by FW too...?")
Given the strong feelings on this topic I guess I'd better state quite clearly that I'm not carrying a flag for FW, but I think it's a bit strong for posters to continually refer to FW "ripping off" Hatton.
How exactly did he rip him off... was it by not getting Ricky the fights he apparently really wanted all along? Let's suppose Hatton had gone in against a prime Kostya, or Zab Judah, or say Chop Chop.... would he have been favorite to win these fights? I don't think so...and would his international career have gone forward or backward after a loss to any of the above? I don't think so...
To my mind, if any of FW's fighters could talk about a "grievance" with Warren then it's surely Witter. Leaving aside all the excuses about American TV, the Witter/Hatton fight was the most obvious British sell-out of the past few years. And I'm sure we all have our opinions as to why that fight was never made....

I'm sure that Warren has never ripped off Hatton. Christ, Warren has made Hatton a household name on pay tv, and made him wealthy whilst being more or less untested.
How many other british fighters were as financially secure before the fought for the world title?
Something has obviously happened to sour the relationship and it may be that Hatton has moved for more money or he may be using Fight Academy to bid up Warren.
Who knows?
What we can be fairly sure of is that both Hatton and Warren have done well from their relationship.

I say good luck to Ricky, it does take a certain amount of balls to walk away from guarnteed money against low risk opposition. He probably believes that FW wont deliver him the big names that he's after, maybe this really isn't about money perhaps and he just wants to test himself against the other great fighters in the division. I think the difference between Hamed and Hatton is that Hatton will probably always strive to be the best, where as Hamed believed he was the best and thought that he could beat anyone by just turning up, i don't ever see a situation where Hatton hasn't perpared properly for a fight. As said in previous posts, both FW and RH have made a lot of money from the partnership, but unfortunatly everything must come to an end.....

Oh do shut up! Do you think Hatton was born a ticket seller?Twinkle Toes wrote:Correct me if I am wrong, but it's Hatton who filled out the MEN, not allegedly allegedly.
Frank may have done this that and the other, but I could have done the same job with such a big ticket seller.
Give warren some credit for gods sake, he's made Ricky Hatton rich, famous and successful, you think anyone could do that?
And in case you think I'm some sort of Banner waver for Sports Network, I'm far from it, I'm hardly one of their favourite people judging by frosty relations with their PR in the past.
A lot of people talk as if promoters are just parasites, but why do you think promoters exist? It is they who make the money come in.
Warren made Hamed the richest sub-welterweight fighter on the planet, he earned figures which at the time Barrera and Morales could only dream about.
Warren has plenty of critics, and I'm often one of them, but for christ's sake, the man has made a lot of fighters a lot of money.
Apologoies if it's already been posted, but Ray Hatton has an audio interview on the BBC boxing site basically saying "show us the contract".
It's not simply a case of upping sticks for more money. They're not asking for Warren to better the other offers, but just come somewhere near, which ain't happening.
I can't believe you lot are defending Warren on here and making Ricky out to be the bad guy when none of you know any of the facts behind the issues, particularly as everytime i've read this forum in the last few years you've been royally criticising FW.

Aye, but Warren also made a lot of money for himself. The way you are flag waving, you make it sound as though he has done it for free.
Warren has done his job and Hatton has done his - If Hatton wants a change then so be it. It's a busines ater all.
Ask Jamie Arthur.
That's to James the journo btw.

Nobody is the bad guy here. That's the whole point, nobody really knows what's going on behind closed doors. I suspect this is about more than just money.G-man wrote:Apologoies if it's already been posted, but Ray Hatton has an audio interview on the BBC boxing site basically saying "show us the contract".

There's plenty of posts suggesting Ricky should stay out of loyalty as Frank's 'built him up' etc.
Why shouldn't he be able to go and make more money if he's the one getting punched in the head?
Sorry but all this talk of Hatton owing Warren anything or loyalty is bollocks, they have both made a lot of money. And if there has to be a parting of the ways then so be it.
Hatton has already been more than loyal to Warren, he's fought on his promotions for 8 years for fucks sake and put up with about 15 WBU title defences when he wanted the real big fights - now he wants a change for reasons we don't know yet. Good luck to him.
Nothing lasts forever.
