AUSTRALIAN BANTAMWEIGHT TITLE

Post by Brute »

Robert Lerio, with more losses than wins behind him, beats a bloke in his fourth fight and becomes Australian Bantamweight Champion.

Jimmy Carruthers and Lionel rose must have turned over in their graves. :witzend:

Times have changed my friend.
Punters in attendance were very happy with it - Very entertaining fight
Gilchrist/Teer for Qld title was a great scrap - War from Go to O....both looked worse for wear @ end of 8

Brute, don't you think it's strange this one flew under the radar and absolutely nothing was said to anyone about this title being on.

Now good luck to the both boys, and congratulations to Roberto and Todd, they work hard and deserve some success, but it's not them i have in my line of fire, its the double standards by Sadsak and his mate the ratings Chairman, who kick up a stink over two other more qualified fighter's with better records, but you know the reason why?? it's in Victoria, both Sadsak and the person concerned hate sending titles to other states, the proof is there, i have watched this over the years since he became Chairman.

It is really getting stupid and these one eyed, two faced oxygen thieves can blast off as much as they like, but let me tell you something, Now, for the first time in 20 years, I am no longer a member of the ANBF Qld and will tell it how it is, cos there is absolutely nothing they can do about it.

Sadsak will always defend his one and only questionable mate as much as he wants, but i am going to keep them honest, no let me rephrase that, i doubt anyone can keep them honest, but i will expose these two grubs for what they really are, in my opinion, they're both frauds and cheats.

Carruthers, Rose, Ferrari, ( Fenech won the Australian Super flyweight title, not the bantamweight) .

The Australian bantamweight title was a title fought hard for. It seems such a shame for it to wind up in the trinket box. Lerio and Cooper may well be game fighters, but I feel a little sad.

Quality these days just ain't what it was in those days. Guys could live & train 24/7 with 370 shows p.a. ATM it's around 120 and at times it dropped to around 60.
Most of the guys these days are nothing more than casuals.

I am with you, sadly it's a sign of the times and the personnel are simply not there, we do not have that many fighter's in the lighter weights, I do not have a problem with the personnel they use the fight for their vacant titles, what i do have a problem with, is the inconsistency of the bloke recommending the two fighter's who should be able to fight for the title.

he is simply not consistent and he favors certain people, it's become a real problem for the ANBF in recent years and they have never had so many problem's since this goose acquired the job, If he was just and fair to all the fighter's, no problem's, but he is not, there have been at least 4 complaints to the National body in recent days that i know of about this bloke.

It's really strange how he just removes fighter's out of the ratings when he feels like it, aka Daniel Baff, he never even had the common decency to contact Baff and ask when and/of if he will be fighting soon, his story was: I was told he was sick or something?? WTF is this, ill tell you, this is the professionalism of the National ANBF Ratings Chairman in all his glory, i bet if i looked closely, i would find others where his lack of consistency would be shown out again.

That's the issue here, not so much as the quality, but i agree, it is sad the quality is not same as in years gone by, but that's just the way the sport has fallen in recent years.

Tank and Gilly was a great scrap. They went at it the whole fight. Tank said to me after the fight that there should be a winner in a title fight and they should have another round. And he would have had no problem at all jumping in again. Such a warrior. The main fight as well was a good fight.

How many active bantamweights do we have in Oz though? Five? Six?

Not many. Kids here eat pretty well, most of the very small guys are East Asians. Rated flyweights to super bantamweights would not add up to a dozen.

We have two minimum weights but they are both dwarfs.
