By the way, I thought C5's coverage of the fight was brilliant. Really enjoyed the pre-fight features and I like Al Bernstein a lot. I hope they do more and more.

just goes to show how desperate we are for terrestial tv boxing that 1.5 million of us tuned in to this shit. the quality of fury and eubank are certainly nothing to write home about , but the quality of their opponents was dire. the ch5 commentary team trying to polish a turd made it even worse. henessey used to have a decent stable of fighters and he was almost put out of the game. its beyond belief that with all the solid pros he used to have that we never got to see them on normal tv, and yet now fury v 45 year old journeyman, and a nobody with a famous dad v a novice fighting two weight divisions too high, is what we get served up on a sat night. why oh why oh why cant they just give us two evenly matched fighters having a decent fight!

I thought Rogan v Fury made loads of sense when it was made although having now seen the fight it may be Rogan is over the hill.

I'm sure for Fury's next fight he'll be in with someone very dangerous and back to his more excitng style.

I think Fury surprised a few coming out as the cagey southpaw last night.

More rounded and patient performance than last time for sure.

Also still good viewing figures, regardless of it being less than previous.

If they get another couple of exciting fighters to bill with fury and eubank we could get some regular big nights of boxing again. They should try and pick up big aud he would bring in the viewing figures.

I went to the bookies, I don't bet much, couple of quid - literally - on a couple of rounds when I'm wathcing boxing in the pub.

I put a pound on Fury in the 9th and a pound on Fury in the 10th. 18/1 and 22/1 recpectively at Corals I recall.

Rounds 5 and 6? 9/1.

9/1!

Should have smelt a rat then.

When Rogan looked at his corner, when not in distress, not in trouble for around 5-6 seconds with 35 seconds left in the 5th I wondered what he was doing.

A good shot to a very exposed right flank, Rogan hits the deck.

I know those shots can finish a fighter. He was up at 9, I don't recall body shots causing a fighter to wobble around like they've taken a head shot.

The count completes, Rogan has his gloves rubbed on ref's chest, the 3.00 marker is reached on the on-screen clock.

And the corner promptly joins the action ensuring the fight is recorded as a fifth round stoppage.

Rogan has been a proud fighter, had his heart broken by Sexton I think, and in this fight had little left.

HOWEVER, despite those who suggest they simply saved him from further punishment - he was never going to win, etc.

Why not go back to the corner, sit on the stool, take a breath and if you choose to take the RTD rather than TKO?

Whiffed, whiffed, whiffed.

I cannot be the only one who saw how it unfolded and felt uncomfortable.

9/1 in a 12 round fight?

It really does need to be advertised a bit more. The fight almost passed me by and until I texted a few mates none of them were watching it. Seemed there was next to nothing in the papers that I saw in the lead up to the fight.

Still good to have boxing on terrestrial and by Channel 5 standards I'd imagine thats still good viewing figures.

Interesting, although if it was dodgy why wouldn't Rogan just have stayed down rather than getting up at nine?

Nothing fishy to me, if you look on oddschecker at James Degale, he's a similar price to what Fury was on Saturday night, he's 12/1 for round 5 (11s with one firm) and he isn't as big a puncher as Fury and the fact that Fury has 10 stoppages in Round 5 or before, I work in the gambling industry and I'd say around 9s or 10s is about right.

When Wlad stopped Mormeck in the 4th. That round was 9/1 also as I was on it.

Regarding Rogie, watching live in the arena it was obvious from early on that Rogan did not have what it took to beat Fury. After the first knockdown Fury hit Rogie with a right hook that almost put him down again. Tyson's patience prolonged the fight.

I wasn't looking at algebraically Ollie.

I just cannot recall a fight with odds that short unless it was, I dunno of Tyson v McNeeley proportions.

I've been assured it is more commonplace than I believed.

I'm sure they have some sort of mathmetical calculation of probability based on previous outcomes when it comes to determining round odds. Obviously as more people bet on rounds, those odds shorten further.

You will typically get shorter odds on a stoppage in a 12 rounder if two relative non punchers are fighting in the later rounds rather than earlier rounds i.e. the probablity of an early stoppage is unlikely so the odds are longer.

The odds on an early KO if two punchers are fighting are usually quite short.

Can't think of any specific fights but I just know from putting bets on and looking at odds.

Look at the next Vitali fight and the odds for an early KO will be stupidly high compared to the late rounds, where he statistically scores KOs often.
