Delighted that we've got free boxing on mainstream telly again , but Al Bernstein ???? He confused the bejabbers out of me with his leftie ,rightie , rightie, leftie and his big Marty comments had me smiling . It was a pretty mediocre fight but glad somebody covered it.

I do quite like Bernstein, at least he seems to do his homework on the boxers.dalcumly wrote:Delighted that we've got free boxing on mainstream telly again , but Al Bernstein ???? Love Bernstein, the Lefty Righty business reminded me of his commentary on Hagler/Hearnsdalcumly wrote:Delighted that we've got free boxing on mainstream telly again , but Al Bernstein ???? Bernstein's a good commentator and pundit I think.

He's a nice guy and portrays the action as 'entertainment' not as 'a funeral' like McKenzie and Watt do a lot.

I also get the impression from what he says that he is genuinely knowledgable about the current boxing scene, with McGuigan and Watt, and I may be wrong, but I always get the impression that they have had researchers tell them about various stuff. With Bernstein if he mentions Tony Thompson as a guy Tyson Fury should be looking to beat to get a title shot I get the impression from him that he has seen Tony Thompson fight a few times rather than just seen his record.G0mez wrote:He's a nice guy and portrays the action as 'entertainment' not as 'a funeral' like McKenzie and Watt do a lot.

Channel 5 should ditch Mark Pougash as a presenter. He is shit. In his post match interview Pougash said "let's look at that finishing shot again, a straight left". Even a casual boxing fan could tell you that shot was a left hook to the body NOT a straight left.

Bernstein is a legend
The soundtrack to so many great fights, especially in the eighties - Nunn, Curry, McCallum etc
I think he's terrific, but obviously needs the cash... or maybe it's just love of the game.
Either way, he's a fine addition to the C5 team

Bernstein is great, I have no complaints about the C5 team the production of the show is fantastic, I think we should all be e-mailing them to compliment.

In the early days of SKY I used to love watching the Superbouts show that Bernstein used to present. Great presenter with great enthusiasm and knowledge of the game.
Regarding C5's coverage. I agree that they did a fine job. Also credit should also go to Hennessey for the entertaining bill that was put on in Belfast. We were treated to many competitive matchups between local lads and the fights kept coming. The only gap being before the build up to the main fight.
My only minor criticism from a spectator point of view is that they should have the main presenter and pundit in a studio within the arena much like Sky do rather than present from the ring. I say this because before the Sky presented Rogan V Sexton fights the paying spectators within the arena were treated to a selection of rousing songs that built the atmosphere and anticipation for the main bout so much so that when the fighters appeared the roof nearly came off. Obviously with the C5 presentation being from the ring and ringside this type of crowd anticipation build up could not happen.
Other than that it was great nights entertainment.

I agree it was a great undercard. Not many English lads will probably have been arsed about most of them but the was a host of exciting, entertaining and evenly matched fights with the best being Hillerby-Thompson and Walsh-Tolan.
Great match making throughout the card.

Hillerby was the fighter of the night for me. Showed great poise and ring generalship. He was a joy to watch.
